Richard's old car ?N22 RSR was my old 993 RS, bought in 2003 for £34,500 (yep, read that again, £34,500) a proper lightweight spec car, high glove box/ no airbag dash, SuperCup leather trimmed steering wheel, no air con, no leccy windows (but strangely enough, hard back Comfort seats ! ! I sold them on Ebay for £950 !!! and fitted a pair of 968 ClubSport seats with Guards red shells) Missing it like crazy now

Yep, Richard's old car. Was yours an M003 clubsport? Shame you don't have it any more, would love to meet up and compare the differences!
AFAIK the main things my car is missing is the gearbox with the steel syncros and the battery cut off, other than that, pretty accurate
Mine was a somewhat strange spec from the factory, fully carpeted, no cage, factory Clubsport spoiler pack and all the previously mentioned lightweight bits, but with Comfort seats AFAIK the main things my car is missing is the gearbox with the steel syncros and the battery cut off, other than that, pretty accurate

You may be shocked at the price of a correct specification G50/32 gearbox these days, that is if you can find one.AFAIK the main things my car is missing is the gearbox with the steel syncros and the battery cut off, other than that, pretty accurate
On the basis that we are not talking of matching numbers, as it left the factory, it may not be worth the trouble?
I have to say the ratios and noise from the box are a large part of the cars character, it is noticeable if you try to make progress compared to a C2/4.

HI Yellow491, hope you are well....I have an invoice for a rebuild on mine not long after Nick Faure bought it into the country in 2000, for £11k at a London OPC!!!That makes yours look ridiculously cheap at time of purchase. It's certainly a blue chip investment that is only going one way!

The 993 definitely gets under your skin.....
I’ve had mine 7 years, I’ve done all the usual repairs-rusty windscreen scuttle, chassis legs etc The engine has been bomb proof though and despite all the maintenance costs in general it’s been a cheap car to own.
Mine is a 1996 C2 Coupe varioram, compared to modern cars they don’t feel particularly fast at all, but I consider it a modern classic .....I’ve had much faster cars more recently but still found myself picking up the keys to the 993 because it’s just a lovely car to drive.
The handling/steering is considerably more sporty and direct in feel since I took the car to Centre of Gravity and asked them to make it more 964 like - it’s now more ‘go cart’ like in feel than previously .

The 3.2 Carrera I had was so quick, and drivable.
The 964C2 even more drivable, a sublime gearbox, better than a six speed to drive.
Coil overs and pas and big brakes, it was streets ahead of the 3.2
However it just felt old.
Damp smelling.
I could’ve spent tens of grands on it, as once you’ve started, you just can’t stop
The littlest things on a 964 wear badly
The plastics at the rear. That bit of plastic, the reflector.
Unless the car has been in a dark garage all it’s life it’s generally turning into pink weetabix.
The plastic dials in the clocks delaminate
The heat gives up.
They are just a bit too needy
On my second 993 now
A C4S, I’ve done money on the engine ancillaries and a Wayne remapthat gives it more bhp right through the range. It absolutely flies now.
I do love a 964 however they were priced just right at 18 to 20 grand
You could spend on them then.
At 50, they’re just too much dough.

I just picked up my 993 “RS” from 9 Excellence where they have fitted a removable steering wheel boss that brings the genuine RS wheel out by about 60 mm.
The wheel was pressing on the top of my thigh and was particularly noticeable when changing gear.
Great thing is that the car now fits me like a glove. What a thing it is to drive!

You’ve let us down.
You’ve let Jackal down.
But most of all,
you’ve let yourself down.
Hadn't followed 993 prices for ages until recently saw some on sale around the £35k mark (C4 cab... manual at least) and though it was relatively good value. At least when compared to what has happened to 964 and pre IB cars prices...
Funny how when I had my 964 C2 manual it was the cheapest 911 one could get, LHD even... Never thought they'd be appreciated more than the mighty 993!
Still think the 993 is the second most desirable air cooled, anything pre IB being most desirable to my eyes. Could have got a 2.2 S for £18k back in 2001 when got my 964!
Have you seen this RS recreation? Seems a bit "rich"??

Can you tell me more about the remap you had done as I feel my C4S could do with more power.
Thanks
