What age do they accept the 996 on a classic policy?
Out of interest what sort of price should l be looking at - clean licence 25 years plus driving experience

Normally you can get a classic policy once the car is 10 years old. Classic policies often require you to have another car and you can't use it daily.

Make that +2 I use classic line on my 996, it was cheaper then anywhere else and gives me free breakdown, and european driving cover and they are even happy for me to keep my car at a seperate address to the V5.

Do you recall the number of days it covers for European driving? Thanks

I've used A Manning previously for my insurance on the 996 I had - they have a specialist team for such cars & include cover for officially organised track days & 30 days European cover per year. I also had all the modifications noted on the policy including custom interior, KWV3 suspension & an aftermarket sports exhaust system.

TIPECs insurer is Asset Trust & a lot of the members are getting good deals through them. Especially for more modern Pork.

Classic Line.
Great service, agreed value, track day cover, euro cover, breakdown cover - all for very reasonable price.

+3 for Classic Line and I've used plenty of insurance companies over the years.

Best part for me is for £20 charge I have the car insured at a no quibble guaranteed value should the worst happen. biggrin

They told me that they will not cover a 2002 model,
had difficlty getting them to quote on a 1998 model,
they then quoted £495
Would not touch named drivers under 30 years of age

Does this sound about right

Thanks

A few years late on this one...

Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a MY2000 996? My normal is about £350 from AXA and Classic Line quoted just shy of £1k, which as a second car for a 36 year old with 7 years NCB seemed pretty poor.

I've just had me renewal come through from Footman James at £385, that's for a lightly modified 99 C2 with agreed value of £14k (got to aim high right? laugh)

That's not too bad. I'm on-street with no mods, but should check the agreed value.. I was looking on ebay for a similar C2 / Coupe / Manual and they're certainly not getting cheaper! There were examples with no service history and even no working engine at more than I paid a few years ago.
