Yes that includes the car :-)
Have you made any other changes to the suspension, or is otherwise stock? Should I find myself with some increased earning power, EXE-TC shocks are high on the list, albeit maybe the cheaper 1-way versions.

Everything else is completely stock.

1-ways probably all that I need too, but these were second-hand 3-ways (rebuilt to new standard very reasonably).

Highly recommended and made possible by the relatively low cost of the car.

Great write. Most enjoyable. I agree the aerokit completely ruins the silhouette on the mk 2 996 and I'd be tempted to return the car to standard. Funnily enough I like the mk1 aerokit. Go figure?
That's actually the mk1 and mk2 Aerokit Carrera (It can be fitted to both)

The Aerokit that is specific to the mk1 is the Aerokit Cup (sometimes known as the GT3 kit).

And just to confuse maters further, there is also an Aerokit Cup for the mk2 Carrera that mimics the 996.2 GT2 (with the ironing board wing), but I've only ever seen it on two mk2 Carrera's.

That post earns a nerd
hehe
Not sure if that's true though. The 996.2's Aerokit (known as Aerokit II) was not an exact copy of the GT3 bodykit as with the 996.1, but it certainly is far more GT3 than GT2.

...as I said, 'mimics'.

At risk of going to nerd level 2,
The 996.1s Aerokit Cup isn't an exact copy of the GT3 kit either (It's just some refer to it as such).
For example, the central aperture of the front PU of a 996.1 GT3 is open, whereas on the Aerokit that mimics it, it's filled in.

Perfect, thanks. I'm always impressed by the quality of the stock suspension - I recently had a front arb droplink replaced and the car feels new now - but fancy bits always appeal. I'll send you a message if I'm ever feeling flush in the future to compare notes.

Be my pleasure.

These come with rose-jointed ARB drop-links, for info. But yes, even the standard C2 suspension allows for a great set-up and lots of adjustability, making an investment like this well worthwhile.

Cheers.

Followed this from another thread - EGTE Your back spoiler looks smaller than the usual aerokit, much neater. Which one is it?

If you're going OEM, it's the wing from the Aerokit Carrera.
The bigger one (that looks like a GT3 wing) is the Aerokit Cup.

Does anybody know if the genuine Mark 2 GT3 (large plank) wing can go onto the same mounting points as the "carrera" wing I have on my car?

Thanks.

I am not sure what you mean by mounting points. The spoiler you have includes the grill section underneath it. The grill with the wing attach to the metal engine cover in place of the normal moveable spoiler.
Looking at pictures of the plank type spoiler it does not seem to attach to the engine cover in the same way so it doesn’t seem to come with the required different engine cover insert, it looks like it needs a new engine cover.

Actually found it here which seems to confirm: https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/99651290102G...

As above, you'll need a new engine cover with the built in uprights for the "plank" - this should fit a mk2 GT3 and also a GT3 RS plank in case you were tempted to serious blow some cash!

Many thanks, Gents.

All getting a bit expensive, then; shall not bother with this idea.

Interesting idea, J.

I've put CLR-spec 17" Braid wheels on now with black centres. Lots of lovely unsprung weight lost and I know you like 17s.

With a ducktail on, she would then look like this.....

Tempting!
