I seem to remember this car or at least some chat about its provenance on PCCB? Maybe ive confused it with another 964 but seem to remember it at GT Classics.

yes I remember that car too. I think it was at specialist cars for a while as the owner was flogging a 964 RS through them too - it was up at GT classics in mid 2014 for £90k and sold - was a topic of debate on the Porsche Club GB forum I remember as the provenance was not 100% - maybe bits of the jigsaw have been filled in - RPM have a great reputation.

Makes you wonder. Could i buy a crappy £50k 997 Cup car, take the stickers off and put a road car interior in it, waffle on about provenance, and then double my money?

Was owned by Des Sturdee.
It's done the rounds, having been at SVP, GT Classics and somewhere else too IIRC ? I understood it was a spare shell Alzen had left over from their 964 Cup car racing campaign, and that they built it into this car. I suspect (rightly or wrongly) it's true provenance isn't known (though it most likely is an ex-Alzen car).

Hmmm this is starting to ring some bells. Im pretty sure the PCGB thread went on for some time and the owner only had what he claimed to be some old racing pics of a blue Alzen car but zero documentation, maybe these have been uncovered as RPM don't sell rubbish

RPM advert said:
The car allegedly started life as Uwe Alzen’s 1992 Cup car (Maritime Blue HJS/ Hella livery no15 car), built in 1991 and raced by Alzen motorsport.
Nothing further to add at this stage m'lud...

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to clarify the situation.

I viewed this car around 6 years ago, it's a lovely bit of kit. Had a German friend email Alzen to confirm the story. My 2 emails had no response but by the time I decided to simply take a punt on it, it had gone to the trade. As stated Des bought it a few years later and his investigation skills are far superior to mine so you can check the rest on the PCGB thread.

Hello chaps, yes there were several well documented threads in the past years on the PCGB Forum (964RS) and a 911 World feature about five years ago.

Time has indeed unearthed the complete story, the car has a Full documented history and service history from the day one when the car was created into a road/track ultimate wide body road rocket by Jurgen Alzen Motorsport. Prior history to this is by way of the first and only German owner and a very good friend of Jurgen Alzen. It was confirmed the car is indeed the original car 15 that started the 1992 season with Uwe. A photograph also attached of the car winning first time out was attached The car crashed and a factory MOO1 reshell finished the season, this was a quick fix. Not uncommon for Cups to have a rear shelf with a shell starting with a 0, but sporting a Cup chassis number. No mystery here and remember Cup Cars were worthless and to get some revenue back, the cars were either broken up for spares or rebuilt into something saleable, some done well others not so good. This one is perfect and rebuilt by the race team choosing the easy reliable DP Motorsport turbo route. So 360BHP (under estimate) is always on tap without squeezing this out of a screaming normally aspirated unit with a short engine life. Not mentioning the phenomenal torque. Fastest air-cooled I have been in and there have been a few. A full DEKRA photographic report when built in 1992 now available.

This 91' M700 CUP chassis is perfect with excellent mechanics, less than 3% leak down on any cylinder. The sweetest G50/50 Turbo Gearbox. Chassis set up by previous owner Paul Mc GT Classics, with 993RS front struts etc ... his personal track day car for many years. The original 18" piece Cup Magnesiums with Alzen hand written on the inside, these were introduced for the 92' season.

There is a lot more to say, but without turning this into a sales pitch, I would suggest any serious buyers give Greig a call at RPM.

I think a great car to own this one regardless of the 'history'. At its original sale price of 52kish would have been a load of fun

Hi Mustang .... the car sold originally for about £35K when a very very good 964RS lightweight was making the same or a nice Cup Car making £25-£30k .. so not sure what point you are making. There has been a huge rise in the market over the last four years. Wish I had kept all the Air Cooled 911, over 40 owned since I was 18 I am now a young 58. I will happily keep the car if it does not sell, it wants for nothing, especially with a complete file now. The car has been invited to attend an invitational prestige German Porsche event in the summer. From people who kmow their stuff and have helped me.

If you are a serious buyer speak to Greg at RPM .... unfortunately it's a 2016 market price or dare I say priced very keen and realistic.

Hi carreraboy. Not making any point in particular just remembered the car at 52ish k in PH's for sale some while back. As I say I very much like the car although at over 100k id like something more substantial to support a cars history. As previously mentioned I remember the PCGB thread where its history was just speculation.
Anyhow I love it, good luck with the sale

I am confused now too. I thought you sold the car in 2014???

from PCGB
'SOLD'
This was a car starring any serious and I mean serious buyer in the face for the last couple of months, and bought by someone who actually understands the car and looks further than their nose and realises the massive potential and fabulous buy it is ...
Did you realise your mistake and buy it back in the meantime?
