Commiserations, that looks a nightmare. Hopefully your other half was sympathetic to your plight when you explained the circumstances around your delayed journey Slippydiff said:

Was it the 964 where the spoilers sometimes got stuck? I seem to remember they were sometimes referred to as making a 'coffee grinder' noise and failing.
They normally just need decent maintenance, ie all the pivots lubricating, along with the spoiler “rack” and motor “pinion”.They fail every 13.5 years. Coincidentally, mine is being replaced by a very expensive specialist as we speak.

Congratulations Josh, very nice. Enjoy!
Thanks. Managed to do a couple of hundred miles in a day when my son said he was coming home from Uni for the weekend. Usually he gets the train but I offered to get him just so I could use it What a great drive compared to my 4.4 RRS! Only niggles are minor. e.g. I miss having a simple knob to turn the screens brightness up and down when driving at night, it would be better for car play nav to show up in the instrument cluster and finally I do miss my automatic deployable steps from the RRS. All Massively first world problems outweighed by a great overall car to drive in my humble opinion.
