Apparently there is going to be a 3 litre diesel coming through soon with quite a chunk more power than the last one.

Is that going to be affected by the factory shutdown, or is it just the petrol models?

Yes I think everything apart from the diesel Macan will be affected by the extended shutdown. That’s what I’ve been told anyway.

Diesel Macan may have its own problems if the info conveyed to this poster is accurate:

This is incorrect. PCGB has stated that there will be a Cayenne Diesel and this has been confirmed to me by my OPC.

Did your OPC say when?

“The exact time of the market launch is not yet clear”

Because that doesn’t make it sound like such a certainty. They could be leaving the carrot there to keep customers engaged so they can try and sell them something else.

Or perhaps you’re right and the original statement was careless. Who knows.

No, but t's good to see the Cayenne Diesel hasn't been axed. I'll make do with the petrol in the meantime but the Diesel is a tremendous car.

Fair enough. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. But it sounds like a keep your options open/punters interested statement IMO, rather then a nailed on there will be a diesel.

Knowing this I wonder how many people with deposits on the petrol will now be wondering if they have done the right thing?

I bailed two weeks ago fully expecting to keep my 3.0d for some time as it fits my requirements (long motorway journeys) better than a petrol.

Now the possibility of a new model diesel perhaps woohoo

Given the factory shutdown not many I'd guess smile

Those with April slots can likely get out of their cars with minimal pain. Those with >Nov slots have plenty of time to change their mind and get their deposit back.

This Autocar article is worth a read

https://www.autocar.co.uk/opinion/new-cars/why-por...

Personally I don’t think a Diesel Cayenne is imminent...I just don’t think they know what’s going on with Diesel at the moment. Panamera Diesel was pulled after a few months and Macan Diesel pulled unexpectedly too. They’re not going to be releasing a Diesel until they know 110% it has longevity. When they launched the Panamera Diesel they’d have expected that car to be selling for at least three or four years so would have been launched thinking it was compliant with all the upcoming emissions regs, clearly it wasn’t!

I put my name down for a Mission E last week and reading this article it’s clear we’ll have fully electric versions of other cars in the Porsche range after Mission E.

Yes it was, but this was based on the assumption that there was not going to be a diesel option moving forward, perhaps now things may change on that score.

Just back from the OPC preview night and have to say, apart from the new dashboard which was fantastic, it was all a bit underwhelming.

I don't think they've done it any favours in the looks department, the Cayenne sweet spot is definitely the facelift version that's about to go out of production. The wide mouthed frog front end on the new one just doesn't look right. In fact the Macan Turbo in Agate Grey that was also in the showroom received just as much, if not more, attention.

I'm sure it's a fantastic vehicle but I didn't sense any wow factor in the showroom amongst the crowd and I doubt this will be the massive sales hit they're expecting it to be.

As the owner of a 2017 Cayenne with a Macan Turbo PP incoming I’m pleased to read your post!

I don’t recall a Cayenne ever being a wow car - is any SUV? I was impressed when I saw the car at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year, the cabin is easily one of the best out there and I’m confident it won’t disappoint on the road. I’m not excited like I was with my GT3 but I’m certainly looking forward to taking delivery.

Don't worry too much. The new one won't fit in my garage so perhaps I'm suffering from a touch of subconscious bitterness.

I also went to a preview last night and I am pleased with what I saw. The back end of the car is a massive improvement over the old one and the interior particularly the cockpit makes the outgoing model look a bit dated. I've ordered a JBM car but was tempted to order the launch colour Biscay Blue but I'm glad I didn't because even under the showroom lights it looks wishy washy. I'm also glad I didn't order the RS Spyder wheels as they are too fussy and will be a nightmare to clean. The boot isn't as big as I thought it was going to be but it doesn't look as compromised as the boot on the Macan which is good news.
