Get yourself one of these.
You can put the fob in the pocket on the side.
Arent you supposed to carry the fob separate from the keys? Otherwise its just duplicating what the key does anyway. You can put the fob in the pocket on the side.

I still think having to pay extra for such things as auto-dim int/door mirrors and a reversing camera on something like a Cayenne is taking the pi$$.....Rumour is diesel version might appear next autumn, but Porsche have said it will only be V6, there will be no V8 diesel S version.
There's a 18 month old diesel S V8 in my works car park, and even with this past 2 month heatwave, he's still running on his winter's with Latitude Alpin tyres fitted......

Odd bunch the VAG. On the VW Arteon Virtual cockpit and folding mirrors are free. Step up to the S4/S5 and you have to pay for both. Step up to the Cayenne you get both free but have to pay for dimming mirrors :/It was a pleasant surprise the informatics/telematics are pretty much included on the Cayenne. Other then reversing camera (given its a large SUV) only stuff you'd expect to be elective is not included in this area of the options list (surround view, night vision, etc).

Would I have paid more for a better quality product? Yes. Will I buy another despite these criticisms? Probably. Could I convince my wife to change her GLE400 for a Cayenne? No because the Mercedes still has a more premium cabin than the Cayenne despite the new PCM screen.

Back in 2016, I had narrowed my choice down to the X5 and Cayenne when they had brought out the Platinum edition with extra kit thrown in......but, despite me really wanting to like the Cayenne, I just didn't gel with the interior, and much preferred the interior of the X5 (and the usefulness of the split tailgate and the more grunt from the twin-turbo engine)
Part of me still sometimes regrets not getting the Cayenne when I see one, and especially so, when I see comments like yours saying the new one seems to be a downgrade on quality to the previous versions
Interesting that your wife thinks the Merc is more premium, as I certainly didn't think so, was struck from the possible list very early on....!! But that's probably as much to do with the lack of interior colour choices with MB as anything else....and not finding the seats very comfortable.
I currently own a previous gen Cayenne e-hybrid and also a new Panamera Sport turismo..I've also got a new gen Cayenne hybrid on order and am struggling to see the benefit over my existing one.I say this purely from sitting in one as i've yet to drive the new gen..
Perhaps my expectations have been somewhat blinkered as i've been spoilt by my Panamera ST..the interior of the Panamera is top notch both from a build quality and design Pov..My main gripe is that the fantastically engineered door hinges on the Panamera feels in a totally different league to the new Cayenne's.
The new Cayenne had better be pretty damned impressive to drive, otherwise i'll cancel it and keep my existing cars. I'm having a testdrive in the new hybrid soon which should help me make my mind up, however on first appearances it definitely feels a couple of notches down from my ST, both in aesthetics and overall quality..

Porsche has done well to keep cost down despite being higher spec (sat nav, lithium-ion battery etc ..) however it's plain to see where costs have been cut. In my opinion the car drives incredibly well however it doesn't have the premium quality feel of previous versions. Lower quality plastics, leather, switchgear, white elastic on the map pocket on the rear of the front seats all smack of a lower quality product. I understand making the car lighter to help with efficiency but even the doors swing freely and lack the weighting to give them a quality feel. In summary, I think the engineers have done a remarkable job but it's tarnished by the beancounters.
Could not agree more, I am now 1500 miles in and the more I use the more niggly bits I am finding, poor show really, will not be buying another

Sounds to me like the facelift version was the sweet spot. Glad I didn't get my garage altered to fit this new one in.
Not IMO, that interior fared even worse to my eye against BMW X5/X6/RRs. And externally IMO the new one has improved aesthetically. In terms of interior aesthetics/plushness, I don't think the Cayenne has ever stood up well against what you get from BMW/RR for similar money. It has other benefits of course, such as driving dynamics.
Having said that, if I had the facelift, I wouldn't say theres enough there to justify the financial loss in changing up.
Looks like the honeymoon may be over.
Over the last couple of weeks mine has started to develop some odd behaviour with the instruments/electronics. The ICE have "crashed" a couple of times whilst driving and taken several minutes to turn back on. Couple of times I have had trouble locking/unlocking it (taken several clicks of the key). And today the right screen in the binnacle "crashed" and took a couple of minutes to come back.
Got it booked in for next month as I need a courtesy car. Maybe they'll give me something fun to drive, but not holding my breath.

I finally saw my first new model Cayenne on the road yesterday....and given London/South-East is normally awash with them.....!!
Lack of Cayenne and Macan production (and diesels) must be having a huge impact on OPC's this year, (and into next?)

To be honest some issues are probably to be expected. The Cayenne is the first deployment of VAG's next generation in-car electronics. They've switched to 48v, significantly bumped the embedded parts and the software. Given that, In some respects I've been surprised how well it's performed, although I don't do many miles.I finally saw my first new model Cayenne on the road yesterday....and given London/South-East is normally awash with them.....!!

I often buy early in the life circle as for me familiarity starts to take the shine off. Living in London, a few years after release, most cars become very familiar Over 4 months in i'm still yet to see another, so that's some recompense for the early adopter niggles.

My new 'S' has been very reliable, considering it was one of the first off the boat in the UK. It's now up to 4,500 miles, 2,000 of which were done in a fortnight driving around France with a roofbox full of camping gear.
The only apparent issues have been a few software glitches with the online features, which seem to be gradually improving as Porsche sort out their Connect back-end store and services. I've also got an odd vibration at 12-15mph when decelerating which is being investigated further next month, but it's very repeatable and not really impacting the driving experience, so Reading are confident they can diagnose and fix it easily enough. All in all I'm impressed that it is working so well for a brand new model.
As mentioned here, I've seen hardly any on the road in the South East, literally three in the UK other than mine since I got it in April, and one French registered car on the autoroute last month. I don't know how many made it over before the production shutdown, but I'd be surprised if it's more than a few hundred.

I sold mine within a couple of weeks of picking it up and the only other ones I have seen have been at Old Trafford. In that two week period I did have an issue with the Nav in the front cluster that caused the screen to crash.
Why did you sell so quickly ? I’ve seen at least 10, all black or white with the exception of one I saw yesterday which was the blue used as the launch colour.
Quite a few AUC/Demos on the Porsche site now too.

My wife felt it was a little too flash for her to be driving to work in. I sold it for what I paid for it and bought one of the run out models of the A6 saloon for half the price of the Cayenne. She loves it and thinks its a better car than the Cayenne and the two Macans we had before that.moonigan said:

Opposite in our household. Mrs loves it and is far more confident driving the Cayenne then any of the cars we've had. Guess thats a result of the higher seating position and consequently better visibility, as its similar size to the 6GC it replaced and bigger then other cars we've had. Whilst its a great drive for a SUV, when I get into a half decent car I soon start to miss driving a car. My back doesnt miss getting the kids and their crap in and out of a car though
