3.8 RS advice sought
Discussion
Gents,
I've been looking at a 997.2 GT3 RS and wondered if anyone can comment on some pictures of the car.
First, front underside, is this amount of scraping normal? Car has no lift.
Second, mid section, one underpanel seems to be hanging /bulging down a bit?
cheers

Been a while since I poked around underneath a 996/7, but the outside of that front tub shouldn't be painted in gloss white paint (especially if it's a red car). It should be the beige/fawn underseal colour you can see beneath the paint.I've been looking at a 997.2 GT3 RS and wondered if anyone can comment on some pictures of the car.

the car is white not red, so I assume that part is normally body colour.but I don't understand how the front of that part gets scraped because the black plastic lip is much lower

Ah, ok, the red is the "lipstick" around the centre grill. Either way, the underneath of the car shouldn't be gloss white, ergo it's been painted, and I'd want to know why.but I don't understand how the front of that part gets scraped because the black plastic lip is much lower
The underneath of the front tub is low, so they get scraped on all sorts of protrusions on the road/track/off-road.
The front splitter (and brake ducts) frequently scrape but are easily replaced, so you'll find cars with perfect front splittters and brake ducts, but still scuffed tub undersides.
Not sure where you're located ? But if you want a full and indepth appraisal of this car, get it over to Matty at Fearnsport, or get him to go to it and inspect it.

found another picture of a new gt3 rs which shows that section painted body colour:it looks like its the tub behind that that's underseal colour
thanks for the heads up on the contact re. inspection!

Ha ha. I'm not doing very well am I ? You are of course right, the underside of the front bumper should be body colour, whereas the underside of the front tub should be as shown in both your images. it looks like its the tub behind that that's underseal colour

I think I'll quit whilst I'm ahead ......
