25mpg as an average! I'm sure my old 981 was into the 30's. Oh well it's not going to do that many miles anyway so it wont break the bank.

Mine's doing 35mpg on mainly motorway runs. About 30mpg on mainly A-road commuting. Still running in, and expecting to lose 5mpg once I can use a few more revs. About 5mpg down on my old GT86, which seems fine.

biggrin Once mine is run in I'll see if I can achieve the same, but you must to be driving quite hard on the road to get it that low. Pretty sure I'll clear 300 miles on the current tank full, and it's the little tank.

718 CS, getting low 30s mpg. Has improved now that it has run in.

Better mileage than my last M235i in any case. smile

The 981S economy was (is) very variable - mid to high 30s on motorways, but any spirited driving on B roads brings it down to the low 20s. It's probably not really fair to compare a (base) 718 with a 2.7 981 - it's a much faster car, and if you start using it's performance you won't really be comparing like with like.

When I sold my 981 GTS it had averaged 17.9mpg over 19 months biggrin My journey to work was 2 miles through town at the time though wink We've since moved to the countryside with a 12 mile journey to work, interested to see what MPG I'll get, pretty sure I'll see some big gains though!

My Boxster 718 has done 2,700miles. Very little motorway miles. Best is 34mpg and worst is 30mpg. Have the bigger tank so don't need to refill as often as I did with my previous Boxster. Very happy with the car as it also has better performance.

I've done nearly 4,000 miles of mainly b road driving and mine is averaging about 25mpg although a motorway run gets a lot more. This is for an S with PDK.

Really, on the motorway my 981 GTS gets 31/32 max, and on a spirited drive depending on how spirited 14-16mpg. The 718 S i had i managed 35 on the motorway, it was PDK though.

Others have quoted mid to high 30s for the S - to get down to 31 or 32 I'd have to getting close to or exceeding license losing speeds. I'd not heard that the GTS was any worse. The official figures for manual are 3mpg worse than PDK. Mine is a PDK - is yours manual? On the motorway in particular the PDK has a significant economy advantage - the higher 7th gear obviously helps, but the coast function is a great help too, so if you use Sport (which disables coast) or disable coast manually you will use significantly more juice.

2.7s are more economical again with some quoting low forties on the motorway.

981 2.7 PDK...

On a run...

Average over 7000+ miles...

This "emissions" stuff is really nonsense isn't it? Greater mpg quoted for the 718 than 981 but the N/A engine was always going to be more economical in real life. Same with my turbo'd TTS S-Tronic. Same type of journeys as my 981 base but I could only manage 31mpg average and 34 max on a run.

Still... the 718 is far more fun...
