having had a modded low mileage 996 Turbo for a couple of years and now having recently driven my mates early 3.4 C2 with factory sports kit ( suspension & lsd ) .. the C2 is actualy much more of a fun car to chuck around the lanes . It was one of the few cars I've driven where I didn't actually want to hand the keys back. Genuinely surprised myself at how much I liked it. That would be where my £20K or less would be going.

.... apart from that , i think 'value' is subjective and is all about what brings a smile to your face or you enjoy driving ... for some a £130K GT3 is great value , for others a £5k boxster.

Both my Porsches, at current values most would think are poor value, for me they are exactly what I want & love about Porsche and thus great value to me smile ( I do have the urge for a convertible though )
As I have said many times there is a Porsche for everybody's taste and pocket .

That is the beauty of it IMO,my old one not everybody's cup of tea however it makes me smile that is what counts.

All 997s
928 GTS manual
944 Turbo
All 986s

Personally, I still think a 3.4 996 C2 aero is good value.

Think the ship has already left port with the 928 GTS manual, weren't only 70 made, and the market noticed this about a year ago.

I have to be honest, I've had my 996 for 8yrs & for me it had to be a 911 as that's what I'd always wanted. Once my kids have flown the roost then I would seriously consider a 986, partly because I've never owned a drop top & 911 cab's just don't do it for me, partly as you say, they are stunning VFM.
I have to add that I have never driven one, I doubt I'd hate it though!

Where's the value? I don't know.
I had a 944 S2 Cab for 12 years, loved it and sold it for a fraction of the buying price. I now have a 996 3.6 C2 Cab, and was considering selling but now am looking to put it in for a full refurb (with IMS upgrade) as prices are holding.
Who knows what values will do, buy the car you want to drive and expect it to depreciate

I have no problem at all with the 996 Turbo, I'd have one in a heartbeat if you couldn't get a 997 Turbo for much the same mone. But you can, so I did. I think the 997 Turbo is a bargain.

All in all, old Boxsters look great though
