Nada, kaput. Can't even open the car using the key button.

What's the easiest way to get into the front boot and are there any recommended replacement batteries?

There are the Bosch S3/4/5 items, just curious which is adequate.

This has happened to me a few times, and I have found I can start the car after about an hour of my CTEK/Porsche charger being plugged into the 12V socket.

It is definitely worth getting one of these if the car sees little use.

I replaced my Porsche battery with a Bosch model a few years ago and it has been much better. It has gone flat a few times when I forgot to plug the charger in, but the CTEK bought it back to life and it all seems ok.

When the original Porsche battery went flat, it never really held a decent charge again, so I replaced it.

I am sure there is a way of getting into the front boot, so hopefully someone who knows will be along shortly.

Can you remember which Bosch battery it was?

I am pretty sure it was the S4, I can't remember the exact model number. Any of the online dealers should be able to tell you the exact model that will fit your car.

It was about £90 delivered which was a third of what the OPC wanted to fit a new Porsche item! It seems like a better battery as well.

You mention key button, but have you tried putting the key into the door handle (drivers side).

Check the Porsche manual online for this model. Boot release might be in the passenger footwell: http://www.porscheownersmanuals.com/2011-cayman-ma...

Or you could call an OPC

I’ve fitted the Bosch S5, as it’s a better battery and about £100 if you shop around.

The cheaper the better so if an S4 is adequate...

Riverside Red, I use the socket under the passenger glove box in my 2014 Cayman for the Ctek and it doesn't switch off and goes into maintenance mode.

Not a clue what happened this morning but opened the car physically with the key tonight and nothing was wrong. Didn't want to do that this morning (5.15am) and risk the alarm going off.

I tried both keys this morning as well and neither would open the car or boots. Very odd.

When did you last use the car? If you don't use it for two weeks, it goes into lockdown mode and you can only open it by physically putting the key into the lock.

Mine does it all the time as it is rarely used, I am sure it often clicks into this mode before two weeks have passed as well.

Seven days will put the system into sleep mode to conserve power. Unlock/lock using the key will wake it.

Just pulling on the driver's door handle will wake the system - which is a lot easier than using the key if it is a cold frost morning in February and the key hole is frozen....

Thanks for both of the previous comments here, that has taught me something as well.
