laptop disabled/changed shift button

ive somehow changed the shift button on my laptop , for example when i try to select the gb pounds symbol i get the hash one instead

what have i done please

You may have changed your keyboard layout to US or International. Look in Control Panel/Language to see what is selected.

Which OS are you using? Windows 7/10?

What do you get when you try to get the @ symbol?

If you don't get the @ then try SHIFT and the 2 key

If that gives you the @, then the keyboard is definitely set to be US layout.
