I'm struggling to find someone to supply a bit of glass to fill an old barn window. Its only 82cm x 56cm and will fill an old wooden frame thats probably been a hole for 20-30 years so I'm not looking for anything special!

Local place in Tiverton want £23 collected which seems quite a lot to me. I was thinking £10-15?

If you are struggling to find somewhere then that probably means that the one quote you have is a realistic one. Had a quick look online and have found a place that will do it for £80 plus delivery.

Found out recently that a standard small pane that glaziers get seems to be 2 ft x 2 ft (I got that for £7.50 collected). Yours obviously needs to be cut from the next size up, whatever that is, for the long side, and I guess there will be quite a bit of waste since the small dimension is less than 2 ft.

As already said if you can't find it cheaper then that is the going rate!

For the sake of £8 is it really worth posting on a forum?

You might like wasting your hard-earned, but I don’t - but ‘thanks’ for your input...

Popped into local builders merchant and £7 for 3mm greenhouse glass will do the trick nicely.

Given I probably have 3 or 4 other panes to do at some point I figured it was worth asking around.
