Hi All

I am considering selling my 991.1 Black Edition, back to the dealer as the end of my 3yr deal approaches. Not 100% on this yet, part of me wants to just keep it.

A lack of available new cars, and the delay before 992 starts to be available makes me think the time has come to get out for now and back in next year.

The question is - The OPC is sure to low ball the purchase price to buy the car into stock, although their 911 stocks seem limited at the moment. I don't want the hassle of attempting a private sale of a car of this value - what other specialists are worth approaching?

Has anyone else recently disposed of a late low miles 911 to a dealer, other than an OPC? Is it there a benefit?

I am in the South West.

Thanks.

I’ve also got a late 991.1 Black Edition, manual, it was my dream car but to be honest has taken me 3 years to really fall for it, but now with the prospect of most new cars having turbo, I’m definitely sticking with N/A engine. It’s a keeper for now and I think it will hold its value well, don’t let OPC take the gain.

It's the closest thing to a 991.1 T basically which would have been the pick of the 991.1 series had it existed, so I'd try and hang on to it. The turbo engines are good, but if you're into NA, they'll always disappoint.

Free to use. You place an ad with photos and dealers bid for your car and come and collect it from you if/when deal is agreed. No commitment, you don't have to accept any offer.

I got a really good price for my well-specced Audi S4 (less than private but way more than dealer trade in).

Alternatively you could try sale or return dealers.

You should give Tom at 911 Virgin a call. I've bought and sold 5 cars via them all hassle free achieving top retail money. One car sold in 30 mins for £85,000 - beautiful 964 C2 with low miles. The others all within 7 to 14 days.

Thanks all for the advice and options, bottle looks good and 911 Virgin also a good shout.

Equally, as Montcoffer points out, these are the last N/A cars and a 991.2 S I drove a few months ago was a beautiful car but for me missing something in the experience.

I need a long hard think next week, but part of me knows the minute it disappears up the road without me I may well regret it...

I wouldn't sell if you like na engines. I remember driving a 991 C2S when they were first launched and thought it was a fantastic car.

I had the same decision to take earlier this year
and decided to keep my 991C2s and don’t regret
it. Basically the car is still all I ever want/need and I don’t regret getting out of the 3 year re-financing merry go round

Conversely, I drove a shiny new 991.2 C2S PDK with all the trimmings when they were first launched and the engine spoiled the experience for me. If you have to go 991.2 then the base motor is the way forward IMO

I've not driven the turbocharged base models - shame Porsche has to go this way.

I had a manual C2 for a weekend last November, was great fun bar the unavoidable issues of the engine. As fast as my 997 GTS. I'll eat my hat if they've only got 370bhp.

Closest thing to a 991.1 T, I like it, keep that thread going and it’s definitely going to keep prices healthy😊 joking apart the 991.1 manuals get a bit of stick ( pardon the pun) but although not perfect it’s still a joy to use and suits the car if you enjoy the interaction. As for N/A if nothing else keep it for the noise range, especially with a sports exhaust, it’s almost a musical instrument, so wide is the range of noises.

I'm the opposite in my view, I drove a 991.1 4S and thought it lacked low down power. I thought the experience really wasn't all that. I think I'd prefer the low down pull of a turbo and so would only get that if I went down the 911 route.

I was amazed when people started taking delivery of 991.2 GTS's having traded in 991.1 GTS's.....the thread on here was full of glowing praise and no regrets.

There's a theory that Porsche updated the manual box during the life of the 991.1....when the 991.1 GTS was launched I think it was Chris Harris who has a manual car and said that he thought the box was much improved over early cars.

Was interested in that subject myself and tried to find out more. I heard the same thing about the 991.1 manual gearbox fitted to cars from 2014 onwards is very slightly amended from the first year/18 months of production. But it was just one of the Porsche bods at their stand at Goodwood and he was from the classic division - so from a technical point of view I don’t know what the actual change is and when it was implemented, I did ask, he said if he drove a 2012 car and 2014 car one could detect a very slight change in feeling but I haven’t heard a journalist say the same thing.
I believe Porsche employees at the factory can borrow a car for the weekend for free but only if they cover a minimum of 1000km?! That’s what our guide said on the factory tour! Anyone else heard that?!
As we all know it is a PDK box with a stick, as the previous post above says it was amended/updated for the 991.1 GTS in 2015 and I understand a tweaked version for the 991.2 manual box from 2016 onwards and of course the carrera T which has been covered in that 500 page thread!
