Gen 11 Cayman engines

For a while I've been thinking of buying a Cayman and was looking at perhaps a Gen 1 987. however, having read all the IMS and bore scoring horror stories I've decided that's not a good idea. So I've upped my budget and am now thinking of a Gen 11 car or possibly an early 981. My question is: do I have anything in particular to fear from these engines? Do they have any weak areas or design faults as the earlier engines have? Or can I buy with a relatively easy mind? Thanks in advance, Dave
