I bought my GT4 new. First Porsche I have bought new. If you are in the UK, then the way the OPCs seem to operate is that they will take an order and a refundable deposit (£5k when I ordered mine) when the car is officially announced, and then you will have to be patient to see if you get an allocation. Deposit to delivery on mine was 12 months.

Whether you get an allocation will depend on how many Porsche manufacture and how much demand there is. Dealers will allocate based on who their best customers are, so you will likely be towards the back of the queue, but if Porsche make lots of cars then you could still get one (as I did).

If you really want to ramp your chances up, then go to an OPC that has a used GT4 on its books and buy that, on the basis that you will px it for a new one.

Trust me buying a GT4 now won’t guarantee you a new one.

Most allocation would of been accounted for, like myself that’s been given the nod as I buy a lot of P cars.

I doubt you will be able to get on the list for the new car unless you have purchased recently.

A lot of people managed to get them before with no buying history as we ended up with 550 odd cars here in the UK as opposed to the 200 we were originally going to see.

I think they will do 4-500 again as a great starter GT product , so yes they will also sell to new clients as this is the idea .

Over 600 GT4s were sold in the UK last time. I expect more again this time.

Just don't expect to get a first round allocation/early car and continue to ask about it instead of throwing toys out of the pram after launch when the usual people get the cars once again. Porsche likely will make a reasonable number of cars (like they did with the gt4 and .2 gt3) and down the line with some persistence there's probably a decent chance of getting one imo.

Unfortunately the OPC’s/Franchise dealer groups all operate slightly differently so not necessarily try that you will have to pay a deposit whilst just “on the list”. Certainly with GT3’s the process was all over the place depending on each dealer.

My experience was

- Put my name down
- When the GT3 was announced I was told I had a good chance of getting a car and had to pay a £10k deposit (March 2017)
- When the second round of allocations were rases in Nov/Dec 2017 I was told I had a confirmed allocation.

Previously people have put a deposit down at Stage 1 which apparently is no longer allowed by Porsxhe GB. I think some people didn’t have to pay a deposit until their car was 100% confirmed.

I think they’re going to make a lot of GT4’s. They made 25 to 50% more 991.2 GT3’s than 991.1 GT3’s and I reckon that’ll happen with GT4. 718’s are not exactly flying off the shelves so I think there will be a lot made and I also don’t think it’s a great year for Porsche as their staple volume models of diesel Cayenne and Macan no longer exist so I reckon Porsche GB will increase pricing more than people expect as it’s easy money.

Around 800 718 GT4s are expected for the UK but if anything it will be tougher and more expensive to secure an allocation this time for those with little Porsche buying history.

Margins have been squeezed at most OPCs so even those with buying history will be expected to be shafted price wise on any part exchange(s) and will also be expected to take a few 'unwanted' used cars at high prices from their stock as well as ordering some vanilla cars as well in order to secure a guaranteed build slot even for a GT4.

The good times appear to have gone and add in the anticipated 10% post Brexit charge which Porsche will levy and these cars could be seen by many as getting too expensive despite their capabilities.

Is this 800 good info and if so any idea on likely 718 Spyder numbers..I have a LOi in for the new Spyder and will gladly p/x my 981 Spyder to get it, but not in a totally unrealistic daylight robbery scenario.
For me personally, everything has a realistic intrinsic value..Much above that i lose interest and will hold on to what i've got, or buy later when 'overs' have subsided.

My OPC isn't expecting many Spyder's as per last time....I made the call a few months ago but was told it was very, very unlikely I'd get one. Not bothered about the GT4 personally...probably should be!

Some of the rubbish people trot out on here is ridiculous and self serving. Most dealers, including senior staff at Reading, do not know numbers and allocations yet so it is still worth expressing interest. The worst they can say is no but you might get lucky and get a call. I doubt you will be asked to buy multiple new and used cars to get one and if you do, you can just say no thanks.

I have found that if you are a genuine buyer and show interest, they are happy to talk to you but you need to be realistic about your chances.

That's the other option but it's deciding when is the right time you come out of the loop. Very easy to see every new GT car as the next best thing when in reality it may not be. The 991.2. Gt3 is a case in point as this could well be the pinnacle imo.

Reckon on c300 Spyders against 220 981s. Could well be more expensive than the GT4 this time too.

Yes C, the 718 GT4 could well be just a grown up more expensive version of the 981.

Imo doubtful whether it will be a 'better' car but time will tell.

In my experience it comes down to your buying history or who you know. It doesn’t hurt to get your name on some lists though.

Ahh well it's definitely worth a shot nothing to lose and maybe may come away with a amazing car that will be used as it's meant to be.

What could be a deal clincher is the 10% possible price increase due to Brexit that Porsche are getting you sign on all new orders
Could be an extra £10k on the price .im.sure it will make a difference
