Originally Peter Morgan Consulting (legendary Porsche PPI specialist) now Porsche Car Inspections. No affiliation but probably your best bet.

If buying a manual go for a gen 1.5.

Most desirable long term. DFI units can bore score and gen 1 Mezger engine architecture based on GT1 race car wink

I had Porsche Inspections do one for me in May, it was very thorough on everything that can be seen suspension, interior, everything works (even aircon temperature), tyre ages, disc wear, bodywork plus paint thicknesses etc.

They check engine levels and full ECU data but didn’t bore scope or compression test, I may have been able to add this but didn’t at the time of appointing them.

They were quick, within a few days, and gave me a very good description by phone and multi page report a few days later. (It may have been 16 pages).

Seller was great and attended to everything including things noted but not needing replacement yet. (It was an expensive car though).

Overall very pleased with Porsche Inspection’s service.

JZM have couple of gen 1.5. Both circa £5k over priced but they know these will become the most sought after in time. I think they'd take your hands off at £5k less bid in current mkt. No harm waiting though prices are only going to get lower towards Xmas watching Boris buffoon around G7.

They have 2. Nice thing is you really don't have to bother with an inspection but for peace of mind no harm. By Xmas they'll be £10k over priced! If you want you cars to sell you have to price slightly under the market at the mo. You should really look at a 997 GT3 too if weekend play thing smile

I have used porscheinspections.com twice and they are excellent. The thing I found most useful are the Porsche ‘foibles’ that they know about and verify - ie Rev ranges / ECU versus engine running time compared to mileage / what a proper VIN plate should look like / drain channels etc. I have only bought privately so with a specialist you may decide not to spend the extra cash as you would hope they have done the due diligence.

The first car I got them to inspect looked beautiful (997.2) but it had revs in the top Rev Range (6 if I remember correctly which is >9500 rpm) and all these were in the last couple of hours of operation. For me that made the inspection worth every penny (I didn’t buy that one). For the second car I got them to do (a slightly more risky 997.1 3.6), I have been running it for almost a year and I haven’t found anything that they didn’t find in the inspection.

They will also advise on everything that needs to be done to the car over the next year or so( in my latest case, front coolant pipes replacing (which is normal for a 10 year old 997), clear drain channel etc.

I would absolutely use them again with no hesitation
