at £70k its a good buy to use on track. its a shame they couldn't get some of the panel gaps better but who cares its a track car.

Depends on the spec of the car. If it’s well done and accurate with a good race history it’s worth a serious look. My 993 was an ex race car. After it was acid dipped we replaced just about every panel with new factory items - including an aluminium bonnet. To build a car to that spec now would be extremely expensive. If it’s Been done properly and to correct detail - matter spec cage etc - it may qualify for FIA papers. Definitely worth a look then. Depends on the detail. I would ask Paul Mclean of GT classics to have a look at it for you. He is expert in these cars and knows the car’s race provenance and will know if the build spec warrants the price

This is Marcus Carniels C2 based car that was used in the Porsche Club Championship around 2008. Racing was always a little “close” so take your paint depth meter or magnet ! If the car has been restored well and it has the right RS bits on it then its probably worth a look

Yep, it was white on the outside and blue on the inside when Marcus won Class 1 in the club championship in it. It had a full engine rebuild a few years ago which was done at Unit 11, paid for by the owner that bought it from Marcus. So it seems strange that Border Reivers say that they've rebuilt it again.

I think you can read the ad that it has had a rebuilt engine, not that they necessarily did it.

I wonder how long it will take until that car gets passed off as a genuine Carrera RS rather than a bitsa

Some of us have good memories and are near anal with the details of interesting cars

It does annoy me how the text in the advert. Tells you little about the car itself but then gives great detail about the 64RS BUT ITS NOT A 64RS.

There is an authoritative 964 RS database, and people like Paul McLean are expert so there are reliable sources out there, but that Carrera RS badge is a deception

A bitza C2 as a £70k track car hardly seems good value. Surely you could buy a really nice standard C2 for the same money which would be better weekend driver (but not track car).

Or go for a higher mile lower value C2 as a track car with cash left over. All IMO. wink

Its very expensive to prepare a track 964 properly. Eye wateringly expensive. If you want a track car and this checks out at £70k its fine. At £70k she'd sell in a flash. Hows your search going for a 964?

I'm sure it is. I keep an eye on the market but not actively looking. Too many other distractions.

Overpriced imo, I think it would struggle at £70k too - can't be a huge market for caged RHD cars. This would be a better bet if you insist on a right hooker:

Red car looks a super buy as long as no annoying oil leaks. If there are its £70k again. Yes difficult to see them at this money when good 964s were so cheap. I bought a minter museum piece for £50k back in 2014 and that was considered expensive. Sold for £85k! When you look at 360, 430 and 550 F cars (I do all the time!) all air cooled look dear but F cars are fragile.

They are not really all that fragile .... a very different driving experience though (esp sth like a 550 vs a 964)

I have passed your info onto the owner, the car has been rebuilt as owner very fussy all with genuine parts, you wont find better for a track day car if its a 964 you want, great cars.

It may we'll be road legal ,if not it easily can be,especially with the adjustable dampers ,to make a more confy ride on the road,i do know it has softer springs for compliance etc

I really want a 550. Then go and read Harry Metcalfe's final costs running report in Evo and give myself a tight a slap. And he had a warranty!
