I really like him. His Smith and Sniff Podcast has a great feel to it....two blokes talking ste about cars who happen to be naturally very funny.
He's good because he's not a badge snob - he was extolling the virtues of the new Peugeot EV the other day - but at the same time is very, very clear about why the Taycan is such a quality act. In his words, a Porsche which happens to be an EV, not just an EV with a Porsche badge.
Absolutely this! The Taycan video led me on to watch the zero EV MX5 video and the video about his Impala lowrider. Although the Impala isn't my cup of tea at all, I can really appreciate the enthusiasm for all things automotive and I found it very refreshing when compared to alternative YT videos that just focus on the latest and greatest.

I also learned that when I take delivery of my Taycan CT I will be able to fit my border terrier in the boot, phew!

My Taycan 4S is currently running with a range of 252 miles in a mixture of urban, country and motorway driving with the AC set at ECO. Not bad and i fully expect it to improve again in Summer with higher temps.

Picked up mine last Saturday. Love it so far.

We managed to acquire insurance very cheaply, too. I am 42, my wife is 39 and the car was purchased through my company. I have one SP30 four years ago, she has never had any speeding convictions. The car will be kept garaged and we live in a rural area. £440 per year via Admiral multicar for 15k miles per year, happy with that!

Anyone taken UK delivery of a Taycan in the last few months? Could I ask you take a pic of the back of your mobile charger? Ie..

Of course my house happens to have 208V 3 phase for some stupid reason and there appear to be several Porsche mobile chargers all with the same part number (!) one like the one above 100/240, 120/240 and another 120/208/240 which I'm thinking might now come as standard, maybe, hopefully...

That is a US charger and not correct for UK. I don't know where you're based but 3-ph in Europe is 400V.

UK mobile charger connects are all 3P+N (240/400V) 32A 22kW in order to be able to charge at 7kW off 240V single phase.

Thanks. I'm in the Caribbean and we have a US style 1p/split 120/240 3p/wye 120/208 grid. Car is coming from the UK. We can definitely use UK 1p 240V charger here on split phase 240, I'm just trying to figure out if I can use L1 and L2 of my 50A 3p 208 as a 1 phase 208 in place of L1 and N that the UK 240V charger is expecting. In theory it should work. I think. Failing that will have to get a US 120/208/240 charger plus.

U.K. Charger won’t work with your 3ph.
You’re best off getting a USA brick if you want the maximum 9.6kw.

If you can hook into a 240v 32a socket then the U.K. charger will give you 7kw which isn’t much less so I’d probably stick with it rather than try and buy a second charger just to take it to 9.6kw.

There are no 11-22kw chargers that work with the 208v 3ph supplies

You're probably right and I should just buy a US charger. The only problem with that is some US chargers accept 208V and some don't but, it's hard to believe, they both have the same identical part number! That said my friend has his UK charger hooked up to 240V split phase which technically is 2 live 120V 2 opposing phase and no neutral. The charger doesn't know it's 2 phases it only sees 1. My 50A socket is 2 live 120V off a 3 phase giving 208V also no neutral. I'm thinking there's a good chance the charger also sees that as a single phase at a weak 208V (212V as measured)... (the UK grid spec is not actually 240V but 216-253V and the EU standard for equipment is 207-253V). Unsurprisingly no one seems to know...

No but I love my Macan Turbo PP as a daily so I am just wondering whether it is the right thing to do.
Trawling this thread as I'm exactly here now. Did you do it? Was it good?!

Locked our spec in yesterday; 4S in mamba green with Turbo wheels, performance battery, pan roof, BOSE, Sport Chrono, 4+1, black trims and privacy glass.

Also had a first drive, albeit in a RWD. Completely exceeded our expectations, will be a great car to cover 25k/yr in.

Looking forward to delivery mid July. smile

Congrats. Sounds like a very similar spec to ours.

As someone who usually suffers from massive buyers remorse have to say I'm absolutely loving the Taycan after just a few hours... what a machine. It just begs to be thrashed into and out of every corner. School runs will not be the same biggrin

Congrats! For me, they are the car with the biggest in picture vs in real life contrast.

Photos can't begin to capture how low, wide and mean they look.

Given your garage, it’s a huge compliment to the design team that you’re enjoying the car so much.

I can understand peoples negativity, having not driven a Taycan, but as an owner I feel that it’s a fantastic daily driver (assuming huge distances are not the norm).

Is anyone here leasing? What sort of deals have people gone for?

My Tesla Model 3 P is going back of lease in November. Don't think I can go back to petrol for every day driving.

After 1000 miles now this relative poverty spec 4S is deeply impressive; as a quiet, calm 4 door luxury car it's S class good but the real party trick is the way you can slingshot out of bends and roundabouts; no exaggeration you'd need a committed driver in a 911 Turbo or similar to keep up, you can get the power on so early and it just finds the grip it needs. On the limit it's neutral and vice free; even a hamfisted driver like me can place it with ridiculous precision on the road and so even though it's big after a few miles it shrinks around you like all the best drivers cars do. The one thing I never considered is the air suspension; on sport plus the thing feels like it's skimming along the ground with about 4.5 inches clearance but there are 3 settings and lift with each one noticeably jacking the car up and changing the character, the highest gives you about another 2 inches clearance front and back, enough for example to hop up on a small curb and drop off without catching anything; never knew I needed it till now. Have to say, I can't see myself ever buying another new ICE car.

Interestingly there’s already an unregistered (key for a business purchase) CT 4S for sale:

https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/search/list?mo...

Good way of jumping the waiting list.
