Full respect ! Driven quite a lot in conditions like that in the Alps but never in a 911! Winter tyres or not that’s punchy venturing out in those conditions

Great turnaround thread smile

Just a week after I bought her and now nearly eight years ago.

This was a jolly (of many to come ) to Stuttgart via Reims and Baden Baden. Left Stuttgart three days later and drove via the Ring home in a day .... was ‘cruising’ at an indicated 160mph on the autobahn until I lost my bottle.

I’ve been all over Spain and France in her and last year took me to Tuscany and back ..... circa 2400 miles and she used around 1/4 litre of oil and didn’t miss a beat.

153K miles (so basically worthless hehe ) and still on her original clutch.....

Marriage fell apart a few years back, so lost the wife and a couple of properties through divorce ..... No way was the 911 going, even if it would have meant living in a tent to keep her.

Trying to get away to Spain the end of this month in her for a final adventure before winter ..... Saying that, nothing better than air cooled on a bright UK sunny winters morn for a blast biggrin

Strange thread. I’m not posting here enough to get a full appreciation of all of your differences (online personas at least) and I’m not remotely bothered about latest fashion trends or value. It seems to me David is pretty much right it what he says in the main if you look at it from the perspective of a very keen focused driver who is passionate about certain characteristics of cars. He just struggles to temper his thoughts whilst posting online about other models which perhaps don’t offer the same driving dynamics; and in doing so, obviously rubs said owners up the wrong way. If I can see this minor flaw in his posting style and look beyond it, I don’t see why other PH members feel the need to castigate his every faux pas as it doesn’t make for great reading or move us any further forward. PH has been going downhill for some time now with many having departed for good, probably due in part to these types of antics.

One other thing, thanks for sharing your great pics and memories, some absolute belters here wink

Probably inspired by Wozy's previous exploits, I took my 993 to Budapest in September for the Rowing Masters world championships. 3,200 mile round trip

On the way back driving thru Slovenia near Lake Bled I had to take a road numbered 911. However, unlike the D996 in France it was not designed for 911s. It was 24km of gravel logging trail. The only other vehicle I saw was this truck loading up with logs. The road was so rough. In the heavy rain it's not only snow that can be scary. However, the 993 easily handled it

Well he's never missed the need to castigate what he sees as other people's faux pas in their preference for cars/spec either so imo, if you are prepared to deal it out, be prepared to take it too....

Perhaps that sentence you've quoted doesn't quite read as well as I intended. Basically I think he means well and is enthusiastic but perhaps lacks the delicacy and tact to not upset others with his posting style and experience of cars. I don't think for a moment he would come across this way in real life. Cmoose is another that has a posting style which some take a distaste to, I have met him on a good few times now and he is a perfectly harmless wink

Ultimately posting about specs and what is great or not is subjective to the needs of the owner. You and I know that buckets make for a more engaging drive for instance but telling someone who has just spent £100K on a lovely new car that it is now crap due to seat choice is a bit rude to say the least. I don't think Demon would do this in real life, he would probably offer to take the other person out in his car to see how they feel about the other option, then have a beer to discuss afterwards. At least that's how I would see it. For this reason I don't take offence to his posts. I get the thrust of his point and ignore the rest.
