I'm in the initial process of looking for my next car and have all but decided on the above model.

I have not previously owned an Audi and have a test drive next week so looking for any advice or buying tips to look for. I did a search and the main advice I could find related was the amount of oil that the engine uses, can be slightly on the high side? I wasn't sure if this was on the age of car that I would be looking at.

The car will be approx a 2016/ 2017 age, 1.8/ 2.0 litre petrol with the S tronic gearbox. I do sub 10k miles per year, so mileage on the car at purchase won't be something that I will be worried about.

Advanced thank you for any useful information.

The 1.8 is quite a rare car even more so in saloon form. It was only available in the pre-facelift model IIRC so up to 2016.

I have noticed that there are very few examples around

The 2.0 isn’t worth the extra money over the 1.5TFSI COD which there will be more of, 150bhp but feels like more.

The engine used about half a litre of oil in the first 2k but now it hasn’t used anything and is now on 10k

I’ve had a facelift saloon for a year and it’s a great car, enough standard kit to keep anyone happy, sat nav, nice mood lighting, led headlights, Apple car play etc

the only thing I’ve noticed that some don’t have is auto hold which is a lovely feature,

Try and find a metallic paint one, I have a standard black S line and it’s a nice colour but silver really sets it off

S line suspension is hard, I ticked mine to have the comfort suspension.

Some of the 1.5 engines had a kangaroo problems but mine seems fine.

Anything else let me know

Not many people bought the 1.8/2.0 petrols as above, the 1.4/1.5 are more than capable. Day to day driving there won’t be much difference in them apart from less mpg on the bigger engines.

Thanks Nick, very detailed reply. I'll see if they have a 1.5 in when I head to see them this week.

Out of curiosity, did you go manual or auto in your engine size?

We went for the manual, we had a automatic Leon before, and wanted a change, I said auto my partner said manual and now regrets it. It’s a ok gear change but the auto suited the engine better when I test drove the auto one.
