only you can answer that.

I only want to go on the low traction drift circle, the rest I can forgo these days.
Agreed, but they need to move the low grip circles away from the low grip circuit.

I have no idea whose idea it was to join them, but it means that you can't stay on the circles for more than about 30 seconds (so not long enough to get good at it) before you have to clear it for the next person coming through on the low grip circuit.
Bloody ridiculous.

I've got 2 to use also, but I just don't feel it's anything special enough for me to bother with to drive 2-3 hours each way for a few hours at Silverstone.

When I was there last week one of the things the instructor did was push the speed...they’ve always told me 20 to 22 mph before....another 3 or 4 mph makes a world of difference.
there is a max it works at 30/35 mph I think, it's still easy.

you can go faster at the side of it and make your own spin, or as I said do it blindfold if you master it.

But it's a slight correction and just be fast, it's a none issue.

you wait, flick the wheel 1/4 turn and then ease it back out. it's harder on cups, but on road tyres it even less wheel movement.

the only time it catches me out is if I pre-empt which way it will go as it does move when you go on it and that can feel like the kick about to happen.

people react too slow, not in reaction time, but in the speed they move the wheel after they react, like miss daisy, that's the issue.

watch Keven E in the RS in the wet you get the idea how fast you need to move the wheel.

Well my ARDS. PEC instructor said the max he could catch a car at was 26 mph. And even then he said that was on his “good side”.

If you can catch it at 30mph you’re pretty bloody good.

Although going slower and catching and holding the drift is more fun !

I was told awhile back that about 26mph was the optimum speed and above that the kick isn't as pronounced as the car's tyres have travelled over the plate to a degree..Don't shoot the messenger but that's what one of the instructors told me.

I'm planning on doing the Porsche Experience for my 40th next year!

I'd be grateful for peoples opinions on this to help me choose the experience, max budget of ~£600 so thinking about doing a 90 minute Cayman & 911 1-2-1 and something else possibly a passenger ride in something fast.

To put things I contest, I drive a generic sensible diesel family estate.

Rather than hopping between cars I'd choose one longer session in something you really want to experience e.g. 911, GT4, Spyder etc. Otherwise you end up adjusting to each car rather than getting the most out of one car.

You could do 90 mins in a Cayman then 90 mins in a 911 for £295 each? That would take all morning then I'd book yourself in for lunch there too, the food is excellent. Job done.

May I suggest as the PEC doesn’t have much appeal to you and Christmas is round the corner! You donate it to some less fortunate who would otherwise only dream of such a wonderful experience,

Quite sure it could be done and also raise some cash for a deserving charity . WATCHING
Well said, mon amie!
Affirmative: you can nominate anyone (providing they meet the age & licence criteria) to take your slot. At least you could up until April last year, as I’ve ‘donated’ my driving experiences to my daughter twice & to a close friend once - no problem.
Giving to a less fortunate person sounds an even better use for an unused slot to me.

I have had my invitation to PEC for my Spyder experience for quite a while now and I am struggling to raise any enthusiasm for it. To be honest I find it a bit meh. To put that in context I live on the Isle of Man so its not exactly round the corner. I love driving my cars and have lots of opportunities both here, in the UK and in Europe. Any spare time can be easily filled with a blast out. I also do quite a few track days and events and as an International Cat C race licence holder I don't feel short changed on circuit experience. I have done a couple of PEC half days at Silverstone already and I am not sure there is much left to interest me there. I have also taken some of the family with me but I found that as we were all in different cars it was not much of a shared experience.

Any body else? Or am i missing something?

Are there any other venues that we can access? Europe perhaps?

Mind you the grub is excellent lick
If you know what it’s all about I don’t get what you’re looking for in terms of an answer. Either do it or don’t bother.

Or gift it to a friend or relative who may be a bit closer and enjoy it. Did it with mine because I couldn’t get across to England.

I was there recently and there was a guy (or lady) in a Speedster having a great time on the low grip surfaces. Braver (and colder) than me!

It's a good morning out if you don't live far away, otherwise I'd want to combine it with a track day on the main circuit to make the trip worthwhile.

Obviously we're all Schumachers here though so the whole place doesn't apply to anyone who exists on the internet wink

Makes sense. We’re only talking small outright speed difference but obviously 30mph is 50% quicker than 20mph....at some stage you’d be over the kick plate before it triggered.

20 mph - 29.3 feet per second
25 mph - 36.6 feet per second
30 mph - 44 feet per second

So lets say it takes 1/10 second for the kick plate to trigger....that means you’re 1 1/2 ft further across at 30mph vs 20 mph....that kick plate is maybe 5 ft across and is probably calibrated at 20 mph for it to catch the rear wheels in the middle of the kick plate. So yup close to missing I reckon...

Nice to see that there are still a few true gentlemen left.
On that note since i get so many PEC invites i treated a friend to one in June and will offer him another next year.

I do 2-3 precision days a year and I’m always on my own. Would be much better in a group especially during the break for lunch etc.
I may see some of you next year, I always do them in a red 964 so you can’t miss me!
Nice to see some kindness on here.
Cheers
