Cayenne Transfer case warranty extension

Not in the UK market sadly. The warranty is only applicable to certain markets. The UK still runs through goodwill however they are being more generous at the moment.

Just asked my UK OPC (Swindon) who profess to know nothing about it. My 2016 V8 diesel is on its 3rd transfer box @35k miles.

Fortunately I have the extended warranty.

As long as you don’t go through heavy rain/water the transfer box will be ok. The issue is usually water getting into the oil. It’s a design fault hence Porsche being generous with out of warranty support. I believe some OPCs are better at fixing the problem than others, so always ask for the top tech when in for replacement.

My GTS box feels a bit clunky and noisy at the moment and isn’t improving.

Time for a visit to Porsche I think...sadly I don’t have a warranty so could get expensive.

Does anyone have any details of a dealership that are aware of this problem and might be more sympathetic towards someone without an opc warranty?

I think they’re all aware. No idea on the attitude to warranty, that’ll be a Porsche GB decision i think as long as the OPC take it to them.

Mine was done a couple of months ago at OPC Silverstone, they had plenty of knowledge of it. Mine didn’t make it out of the car park for them to diagnose.

As Cheib says - most OPCs should be aware of the prob. Mine was under warranty so didn't need to ask but I had good service off Jack @ Nottingham. I thought he's a very good service service advisor so might be worth a call to him.

If all else fails - change the oil in the transfer box. I haven't heard of the GTS being affected though

Slightly ot, but which models does the transfer box issue happen on? I'm mildly thinking of a move from my completely worn out touareg having done 182k miles.

My 2013 Diesel is fine somnambulier at 195,000 Kms, say just short of 130,000 m8les.

My Cayenne V8s has just had recall for an ecu reprogramme on instructions of Germany, but also a recall to change oil type in transfer box.

Tell them to fk off re the ecu reprogram. And tell them it's not your fault Porsche diddled the emissions - you're quite happy with the car as is, thank you. The dirty bds

Interesting. I’m going to change the oil in the box first and then see what happens. Would you mind sending me details of the oil and what’s involved if you can? Thanks.

Mine too but no mention of g box oil. Reluctant to have ecu changed but some threat that it’s being monitored by dvla from memory.

Can't do that as would invalidate my Porshe warranty. So much power and torque that I won't miss a bit. They also state in writing that the change is only to sport settings with a full explanation of difference to gear changes.

just to conclude this...I called Hatfield and they said they had never heard of these issues with the transfer case and could only book me for an inspection in January. Unhelpful and the second time this year they have behaved like scumbags...

Anyway, then spoke to Porsche Silverstone, who took my registration, confirmed there was a known issue with these transfer cases and that Porsche would replace the whole unit under goodwill, as well as the labour and pre-inspection/diagnosis costs. Car was inspected yesterday and is coming back to me on Saturday with a new case.

They have been superb, communicated everything exactly as they said they would and restored my faith that some OPC's are still capable of decent service. Hats off to OPC Silverstone.

What is the main issue. My Cayenne S diesel has a bit of a clunk when its cold from park to reverse. I was expecting Porsche to say "they all do that" but could this be the transfer case?
