Wow - he's been completely erased from time itself. Though the loose ends flap-about in a way that might seriously damage the space-time continuum.

If you get banned, all the historical posts don’t usually disappear do they?

I think there is something more sinister at foot here.

I will start the bidding at cmoose never even drove a Porsche, and had a BMW 118d.

I met Jeremy at a Porsche shoot for a magazine when I had my CSR and then randomly on holiday.

Good guy. Knowledgeable and opinionated. And a Pork owner

Maybe there was a disagreement with PH about something

Hopefully it wasn’t a flounce due to the temporary ban followed by the use of a technicality such as GDPRs right to be forgotten as retaliation...

I seem to recall another flounce/exit followed by a demand all posts be removed

Was he a car journalist?

I used to always read his stuff as he always seemed quite angry, which was amusing.
I think the most straightforward answer is yes, he is a journalist. He wrote/writes for 911 & Porsche World and some teccy mags.

Also editor of the short lived iCar magazine :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICar_(magazine) and he also writes for TechRadar.

https://www.techradar.com/author/jeremy-laird

Other teccy stuff : https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/t...

And savaged (some, many ? would say, and rightly so) by Monkey Harris on these hallowed pages :

Hard to say if I'll miss him.

Yes he would post some great PHer insights, but could also single handedly derail threads with his always-getting-the-last-word-in posting style.

As Harris stated, he frequently boasted of driving every car via journalistic privilege, yet insisted on hiding behind his PH pseudonym and threw his toys out the pram whenever his real identity was called out.

Someone on here noticed his uninformed rants about 911 hence even gave him a go. I believe the story goes he then sold a negative article a year or two later about the same person to a daily rag. His day job but so far under the belt after borrowing a car from the same PH member IMO. Divisive with an inadequacy complex of some sort I don’t think cmoose realises how close to the wind he’s sailing. He’s not going to have many friends behaving the way he does or be liked.

Good lord....how on earth is he coping? He spent most of his life on here. And not to be able to have the last word....it must be killing him, poor bloke.

A £-shop forum caricature of Owen Jones. He picked his challenges well, however, where an easy victory was all but guaranteed. 'Liddle Jeremy' will be directing his acerbic cocktails of 'ire and angst towards another set of unfortunates on another forum I'm sure, so wouldn't feel too sorry for him.

Aggressive and foul language towards others.
It’s a shame as the other person who got drawn in also got banned.
Yep classic passive aggressive anti all new Porsche type he was effectively an extremely odd walking dictionary with an extremely argumentative and condescending posting style witnessed by the classic spat with nice chap Sidicks on PDK v manual.

Hard to see what he will do now with all his considerable spare time as if anyone would really care.

Presumably he will progress to his ultimate aim of constantly arguing with himself.

TL:DR

Won't he simply re-register under a different name?

Or is that worthy of custard, or whoosh, or a parrot or something. I must confess I don't know how these things work.

hehe considering his condescending attitude to anyone who might dare to have a different opinion to his (and boy would you know it if you did) the fact he's flounced is mildly amusing to say the least.

If he's asked for all his posting history to be deleted then it it's a proper, Elton John sized flounce as well.

Can't say I'm surprised to be honest, anyone that narcissistic was always going to have problems outside the echo chamber of his own opinions.

He must’ve been on a last warning for a while, insulting other posters and foul language do not immediately result in a permanent ban as far as I know (from experience.) Given his argumentative style I guess is not that all that surprising, though I have to say I did learn some new words debating with him.

His absence does seem to have encouraged more posters to come forward and share their knowledge in some recent threads, presumably without the threat of being attacked or drawn into a never ending forum discussion, so I guess is not all bad.

Farewell CM.

Custard is if someone makes a claim to own a car and others doubt it, you have to take a photo of the car with a tin of Birds Custard on it to prove ownership

Whoosh Parrot, Whoosh or Parrot is if you have missed the sarcasm in a comment, ie it 'whooshed' over your head

If CMoose does re-register with a new name he'll have a job on keeping it secret given his prolific well-known posting style & vernacular. Pointers are:

  • Drive the snot out of it ( I always wondered where the snot would come out but didn't ask)
  • Zingy engine
  • You are empirically / provably / demonstrably wrong because...
  • As ever, whatever / Ad Hom / Sour hypocrisy
  • Croc
  • Every single M97 Engine will bore score
  • Full cow
  • Ohlins
  • Why any car he owns is better than any newer model / variant/ supercar, especially one costing 10-20 times as much, often to do with the older one being less 'filtered' or something intangible
  • Any options that he considers uneccesary, and those expressing a liking for them, are worthy of derision
  • The same as above for any experiences that others may have had with the same car that are at odds with his perspective
ETA I don't wish the chap any ill will. I hope he learns to lighten up & not take himself so seriously. Life is short I've learned. As I said on the other thread I did try to make peace with the chap for all my antagonism of the past but he didn't respond, maybe he missed the message.

Thank you, Mr Smith for that fulsome explanation.

I don't recall any of his posts, but I do think any forum should have space for some eccentrics and their associated eccentricity. However I don't like insults and I think swearing on PH is pointless and a waste of time, because it will be obliterated anyway.

My own weakness, I confess, is pedantry.
