Got up to £165.5k and didn't make the (lowered) reserve… not surprised… would have been almost £30k cost for 1.5k miles or £20 a mile. Transpires the buyer overpaid last year.Current owner looking to get rid before the next service due in March

JZM have 4 x 997.2 GT3 RS in stock at the moment.
Lowest price and a very similar spec to this one, a Grey black and red with just under 20k miles at £180k. Usual dealer facilities plus they have a JZM warranty. That probably set the ceiling on an auction with no come back.
That Grey one is really stunning and realisically priced. I'm a bit surprised it's not already sold.Lowest price and a very similar spec to this one, a Grey black and red with just under 20k miles at £180k. I think people buying these used are buying to use rather than ride the flipper wagon, I was in the market for a 991.1 GT3 but am sitting on my hands as prices soften and the .1 to .2 gap lessens, may well end up spending more in real terms but for better VFM.Just my take as a potential buyer.
This caught my eye for some reason and sounds like its been properly sorted with the usual 997 engine issues sorted.....

I think you are being very unkind.
Snitch/ Troll or whistle blower ?
I think there can always be somebody with a grudge, but there is no doubt that there are cars being sold on all auction platforms for which the current owner does not wish to take future responsibility ... if a private owner that makes sense and there should be plenty of good ownership paperwork to show how the car has been treated particularly in that ownership ... if a dealer ??
What it does do is turn cars into cash in a very efficient way, accepted that it is at the market value of the moment. Which potential buyer would not wish to be informed prior to bidding if the car had a known history ??
What is your angle ?

I noticed a couple of interesting Porsches sold on there last night, both from the same vendor who happens to also be a member on here. Oddly, one was listed as a private sale and one was a trade sale.
Yes ... the blue and the yellow cars ....It appears that the blue car was bought previously on CC and was sold at a loss of around £15k inc charges ... so maybe that person wants to offset the loss against profits elsewhere ?
The yellow car appears not to have sold ...

The yellow one was shown as sold last night, reserve met at £79.5k, but appears to be unsold now.It appears that the blue car was bought previously on CC and was sold at a loss of around £15k inc charges ... so maybe that person wants to offset the loss against profits elsewhere ?

No angle. Just a casual observation about the frequent disconnect between those bidding and those asking questions. The tyre-kickers remark was just me being facetious. I’m sure there are lots of legitimate reasons (early interest but priced out before placing a bid etc).Snitch/ Troll or whistle blower ?

But to my mind, your explanation for why it might be, makes it sounds worse than tyre-kicking.
People getting involved who have no interest in the sale or purchase but feel the need to comment? Possibly from behind a masked identity??!!
Think about if that sort of behaviour happened in the real world rather than online. You’re in a dealership looking at a car and some random dude (in a disguise no less), walks past and tells you to ask about over-revs? Or you’re at an auction and someone starts shouting from the back that the car’s seats aren’t original?
In any sale it’s down to the seller to represent the car accurately and down to the prospective buyer to educate themselves and do their due diligence. There’s no need for uninterested third parties to try and police the process.

Yup amazing they would take at that reserve. As I posted a few days ago there was nowhere near enough information on that listing to buy a car like a Speedster comfortably. I raised that before and I know Yellow said he knew the guy that was bidding on it was no fool but they are such valuable cars that history and knowledge of restoration is so important. Not enough info to really get a bidding contest going and CC would have known that…LSDiff said:

But on CC it isn't. CC accept without question the description of the vendor, and say so. The bidder / purchaser is unlikely to see more than the material presented online. The vendor and CC want easy high sales, so the buyer is unprotected. You are making the best possible case for not buying on CC ... unless if somebody in the community is aware of a serious potential issue they ask the right question and it is answered ?
They may also be a purchaser ... but does it matter if not, so long as they are being honest ?
If the purchase is made eyes open, then everybody should be content.
The only potential loser is most likely somebody trying to sell something which is not fully described (given the number of dealers preferring to sell here without warranty) ...
I personally got caught out on a question selling a 50 year old car with 15,000 miles on the clock. I was asked how I could prove it. Apart from the limited MOT history going back to 2006 and the condition of the car, I couldn't. The car sold for a lower price than I expected ... and after the sale the marque owners club with whom I had registered my ownership contacted me because a relative of the previous owner family had found the complete history ... including the original purchase invoice ... which I then passed on gratis to the new owner.
The car was better than the pictures, que sera sera ....

I went to view that back in '18, keen to buy it in its pre-pimped state (it looked pretty nice back then, LSD, GT3 front bumper and rear wing, Carrera Sport wheels, Hartech rebuild). Unfortunately it had clearly had a serious bump on the offside and rear quarter, that wasn't very well repaired, so I bailed and bought a kitchen instead :facepalm:https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2007-porsche-9...
