It’s a great colour. I’m also sorry he’s had a bad first experience, I’d have persevered though, because the driving rewards with a Porsche are worth some of the customer service/after sales issues.

Just heading out in my CT up into the Dales. Hopefully before the motorhomes and caravans hit the roads. biggrin
Love using mine. One of those rare cars that makes the mundane enjoyable, to the point, even going into the city last night to watch a rock concert, we took my car, rather than the Mrs’ runaround (which is easier to park and a hell of a lot cheaper and less conspicuous) just because. Actually had a great drive both ways.

A big dog and a Mrs with a wheelchair has always limited my choices.

Incredibly we can get wheelchair in the boot of an SL and still lower the roof. No other "sports" car we ever tried managed that.

So that was the weekend sports car. Our other car needs to be an estate or large hatchback at least. So you can see why the Cross Turismo looked like the perfect solution with all the tax breaks on top.

If BMW made an M5 touring I would have bought one. I did consider a B5 Alpina, but the wheels simply wouldn't have stood up to the roads around where I live. Plus it was £100k and shed value at an astonishing rate.

In fact if BMW made an interesting petrol engined 5 series touring I would have bought one. 550i or 540i, but they don't or certainly didn't when I was looking.

That's pretty my how I ended up in an S6 Avant. It was the last of it's kind and now that's dead. The E500 Merc no longer existed, BMW made no big petrol engined tourings for the UK, so it was either full fat AMG's or RS cars - or the S6.

Ah ok this makes far more sense. I have the same issue with Mercedes. I had a C63 which was the worst car I have ever had the misfortune to own. Poor build quality, a litany of issues meant it spent 6 weeks of my 3 month ownership in the workshop. It has coloured my perception of the brand and like you, I would never buy another.

Go buy the FF and don’t worry about BIK tax.

It’s not the largest or most practical of boots on the CT, especially given the sheer size of the car. I’m a bit disappointed the OPC still don’t have my rear mount bike rack yet. I definitely wish I still also had my VW T6 van and reckon, even if the rack arrives, I’ll probably get another van too.

Same here Digga. My bike does fit in the boot, but I can’t help but think the rack will be easier to live with. I assume it’s a component supply issue rather then the OPC?

Mines coming with the rack option, but does this mean the official Porsche rack isn’t available yet?

When you fold down the rear seats, you can just about lift a eMtb in if you remove the wheels. The problem is scratching paint, the boot threshold and worst of all, the outside seat bolsters which remain in situ when you fold seats and could easily be damaged.

The rack shortage is some sort of supplier/production/logistics issue, but I don’t know precisely what.

I agree with that. Whilst I've not driven one without, with RWS you can get into and out of tight spots a car this size has no right to be able to make. I'd get the surround cameras too.
Get. The. RWS.

This bugger got me 1st time round despite taking a huge arc and turning in as late as poss. The 2 storey UHW Heath car park in Cardiff. Fuming.

8500 miles now - one reboot that costa 10 min coffee. Range really up:

Just replaced my 8 month of Cross Turismo 4S with a near identical spec Sport Turismo 4S. I much prefer the cleaner lines and less plastic trim of the ST. There is no noticeable difference in ride quality despite the slightly lower (but fully adjustable) ride height.

Good to know - and expected really as if the ride is still centered on the sus centre point of travel at normal ride height (allowing more bump absorbing travel than you get in low or high modes) be it CT or ST. What tyres is it on? Mine is on P7 and they are absolutely great. Hoping same will be true for great ride on my GTS ST...but am a bit worried as I LOVE the CT 4S's ride quality.

Conversely I'm hoping my GTS ST comes with Michelins as I cannot stand Pirellis.

To the point where if it has to be delivered on Pirellis, I'll get them changed immediately and flog them.

The OEM Michelin on the Taycan are absolutely brilliant. I agree about Pirellis, the last set I bought about 20 years ago did one day at the Nurburgring and went in the bin!

Regen. Am I doing this right?

Anyone else find the left hand button really useful as a sort of 'drop it down a gear' when coming into speed limits or controlling pace downhill? I seem to use mine a lot.

Only had a couple of test drives thus far (one for a day).

Yes, that's the regen button. 3 modes I believe - "off"; "auto"; "on".

Off = no regen on lift off
Auto = allows the car to coast as much as it can on lift off, but applies regen if it sense the car getting close to other traffic etc
On = regen on lift off (I preferred this mode, but was mainly using the car on country roads)

I *think* the car uses regen as much as it can when actually pressing the brake pedal rather than using the discs. I think how much it does that depends on battery charge etc.

Not sure which "left" button you mean? If it's the regen one, then it's as above I think.

AFAIK the button I have circled in red is the control and it seems to have two modes: off/on.
