I've opened a dialogue with my dealer about PTS. His response was that it is likely to be available but with an unknown timescale and it's not unusual for these orders to take a year or so. Mainly as they are painted in batches.

I'm unlikely to see my car this year as it is and I wouldn't be surprised if it was pushed back even further given the sheer volume of orders and international supply issues with components. To that end I'd like to go with PTS if it's available so I've asked him to find out what is actually possible.

I'll update here if I get anything further to report.
You can get PTS now smile

Saw a 4s Cross Turismo for the first time today in White and thought it looked even better in the metal than pics. Picked up my 4S saloon from my OPC after the big software update with a full charge showing 255 mile range. However after driving exactly 95 miles back home my Taycan still showed 180 miles of range. Make of that what you will !.

Nothing from my dealer about it so far. I get the feeling it's just a bloody nusiance when you ask for stuff like this. It was so easy (and inexpensive) with Audi to get a custom colour, I even ordered a car painted in a colour they'd never done before - they did a sample and said, yes it's fine. I had to jump through some hoops with Mercedes but got a nice Designo colour eventually.

With Porsche though you just get the feeling the whole UK market is a thorn in the side they could do without!

The Taycan has certain properties akin to some advanced extra- terrestrial technology such as the ability to defy gravity. It changes direction at a rate which defies the laws of physics like centrifugal force doesn't exist. It also has the ability to accelerate faster than what current human technology is capable of whilst apparently making no sound.
The answer is out there.....

And mine has disappeared from the 2021 build list, but reappeared on the 2022 production schedule…

Mine is in build and expect to take delivery next month if not sooner. Look on the bright side as yours will be even more advanced than mine being a 2022 Model year while mine will be.. Oh so last year....!

FWIW, if you put a 2021 build code back into the configurator, it can be updated to 2022. This highlights any main difference and as pmanson says, rear camera is now standard.

Saw this uploaded on the taycan forum - apparently it's at the Norwich dealer.

Very pleased with our choice of colour!

Custom colour vs Paint to sample.

Custom paint
From a range of pre-approved and validated historic and special colours. Minimum lead time: six months

Colour to sample
Highly individual, unique colour that has to be validated and approved through feasibility study. Minimum lead time: six months

Cost is either £6228 for Custom or £12,456 for Colour to Sample.

Does anyone happen to know what colours are on the "Custom Colour" list for the Taycan, I've had a good search and I can't seem to find anything published. Seeing as this is my first Porsche I'm not sure if this is vehicle specific or a standard selection of colours across the range (which would make more sense).

Answering my own question, for those that may be curious. There is no "list" of colours as such, it's so vast apparently. You just give your dealer some options or a specific colour and they let you know which category it/they fall into.

Where I live it's rarely much under 30 and I have the a/c on 20 and the fan on 1 and it's fine, no worries; in the UK I can't see it making any difference. The metal roof does look better though.

Thanks.

I've given my dealer a couple of options, he's waiting for a "list" from Porsche UK, confirmation of either of my colour choices and an idea when my slot will be for a custom colour choice.

I'll post on here when I get a response.

My understanding of this is Custom Colour is a pre approved colour that Porsche have used a number of time previously.

Paint to sample is exactly that - pure custom or free choice from any manufacturer.

I'm trying to avoid PTS and hoping to go with Custom. The price doubles for PTS. Circa £6K for custom, £12K for true PTS.

It seems everyone refers to both options as "PTS" despite the fact they are seemingly different entities?

PTS is the generic term for the "individual" paint for Porsche. Within that you've got custom colour/custom paint which is the pre-approved extended palette (£6k), or the true colour to sample which is new shades which need to go through feasibility study (£12k).

The pre-approved list does change and is different for different models depending on feasibility and which paint shop they're going through.

Your dealer should be able to get you the approved Taycan list for custom colour, if not, drop me a PM.
