Did anyone on here buy this earlier in the week?

I would be interested to hear about the RUF conversion done at RUF Autocentre in Texas. I’d love to know what got changed during the conversion. I spoke to someone at The Market auctioneers who had driven plenty of 930 turbos before. He said that this one is insanely fast compared to a standard 930.
Come on then, who bought it? Please tell us more about the car

From Ruf's website : The basics of the RUF BTR start with the engine, which had the original partially-finned cylinder barrels replaced by those with air-cooling fins around their complete diameter. The bore was increased giving a new displacement of 3.4 litres from the original 3.3 litres. RUF added unique Mahle Pistons plus connecting rods and 935 type camshafts. The intake manifold was replaced, as was the exhaust, A larger KKK K27 unit replaced the turbo, and a larger free-flowing intercooler was added along with the installation of a larger oil cooler.
End result ?
374hp. 187mph and 4.4 to 60.

Thanks for the info. Seems like a hell of a lot of car for the money paid by the highest bidder.
up close it warrants a heck of a pain correction, perhaps even a bare metal respray.https://patina-media.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/me...
and up close the interior looks a total state.
https://patina-media.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/me...
Go through any of the pics and its got chips and terrible interior wear everywhere.
Some areas are painted with a touched up with a brush

A lot of car for the money, but a total money pit if you ask me.

It’s the RUF improvements to the suspension and engine that excite me. I hear what you say about the cosmetics but for me personally the fun would be in the driving experience.
The linked photos don’t work unfortunately. Did you go and view the car? I’m only been looking at the pictures in the auction ad.

I bought this car!
I have now heard back from RUF who confirm that the car was converted by RUF in Pfaffenhausen. As the car was originally sold in Dallas, Texas, I had assumed that the conversion had been completed by RUF Autocentre (RUF's representative in the US). However, their Service Manager has confirmed that the conversion was done by RUF HQ in Pfaffenhausen, Germany.
I read the comments about the bodywork being covered in chips and that parts had been painted with a brush, but the poster must have been looking at another car. The bodywork is mint.
The car is very, very fast but only after 3500 rpms. I am looking forward to getting it onto a rolling road to see what output it has.
Here is another pic of the exterior.

Well I love my (new to me) 33 year old 98,000 RUF 930 Turbo. I have perfect cars too, but I tend to enjoy those with a bit of patina instead as I can use them having to be too precious about them.
Garage queens have become less appealing to me recently and I still love the Magnus Walker approach to car ownership. It seems to be about driving the cars that you like and not worrying too much about other people’s opinion.
To be fair, the photos make the car look way worse that the reality.

No doubt about it, it is a stunning car. yep perhaps the pics are not doing it justice on the auction site....if you right click on them they are so high res that i guess even the smallest of things is accentuated. its a stunner and i am surprised it didn't go for 6 figures. As I see it, over night you made £50K....as with a good clean and detail you could list for £100K plus easily, possibly even double your money. £200K too much, but somewhere between £120 and £150K you'd easily get.
everyone slept through that auction huh. Well bid, you done great!

What a lovely piece of pork history, good luck and enjoy your new beast...
Thank you. I will let you know what I learn from the RUF archivist in Germany. This really is a beast in the power delivery! I have 3 other cars will more than 400+ bhp, but with this one I have to think very carefully about wet roads.
RUF installed a turbo boost control knob in the cockpit and I need to investigate a setting for wet roads (and a wary owner!)

One man’s mint is another man’s “patina”.https://i.ibb.co/TtPyMc1/media-4-F3-C0974-098-A-45...

One man’s mint is another man’s “battle scars” to be worn as a badge of pride.
One man’s mint is another man’s “unusable”.
I’ve owned both types of mint, and I prefer, patina, battle scars and usable.
Personally I think it’s awesome the car has found a new owner who appreciates it for what it is now, not what it was when its first owner collected it from the supplying dealer 33 years ago.
It is however great that some owners choose to wrap their immaculate cars up in cotton wool and rarely use them, as it means when they do sell, there are some excellent examples ready to be used and thrashed to within an inch of their lives by their new owners

Congratulations. That looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. What a steal. Is it a 4 speed car or has it been converted to 5 out of interest. Enjoy
It is a 4 speed car. I know that Porsche started to use a 5 speed in the 911 Turbo around 1989. It would be interesting to know when RUF started to convert the Porsche 4 speed gearbox into a 5 speed. This car was built in 1987.I've had a happy morning in my pit under the car changing the spark plugs. Luckily there is a special spring loaded and flexible tool im the toolkit/

You need to turn the knob to minimum in the wet! This really is a beast in the power delivery! I have 3 other cars will more than 400+ bhp, but with this one I have to think very carefully about wet roads.

And as for worn cars, these cars are made for driving not sitting in the garage. It has some scuffs and dings? Character.
