Porsche Car Connect Problem?
Discussion
Apparently, there's a major update to the App coming in the near future. Given the frequency of updates to date, I shant be holding my breath. I know that it's a vast distance between a hardware company, and a software company, but way too many companies wave a token flag at doing software properly, and its just an all round bad experience.
110 days since my app connected. Vodaphone sent me a "health check" warning, unable to connect to car. Phoned them, they told me to have a hard reset done by OPC. OPC can't do it until January as no couresy cars available until then.
In view of these posts I have just phoned Vodaphone again. They tell me that their server connects to a Porsche server, which then connects to the car. Theft warnings etc from the car connect to Porsche and then transfers to Vodaphone. They are confident that this is a Porsche problem, not their servers.

I decided it was rubbish soon after I took delivery of my Macan
Mine is disconnected now, except every so often the fob thingy decides it needs a new battery, but I ignore it & it goes quiet.
My recently purchased 911 came complete with four fob thingy's, the dealer couldn't explain. It is also not connected.

I’ve had two hard resets on my 718 GT4 Since September when I took delivery and it still doesn’t work. Yes it’s frustrating but I’m not particularly bothered to be honest.
I suspect Porsche aren’t the only manufacturer to have problems in this area. BMW have had lots of issues with their Motorcycle App.
My guess is it will all be sorted soon.

My 5mth old GT4 has already been back to OPC twice after I’ve been contacted by Vodafone to say it’s ‘failed a health check’.
Just had same email again today. The nice lady from Vodafone said their system hasn’t received a signal from my car since 21st October! (a couple of days since it was last being ‘hard reset’ at the OPC).
As mentioned by someone earlier, OPC to busy to look at it until January…
Anyone asked for a refund on their tracker fee?

I'm in the same boat, next week will be the 3rd time my GT4 will have been in my OPC.
No tracker working equals no theft cover, it's not moved since last hard reset and probably won't now but if i did want to fly out for a run if it ever stops raining it wouldn't be insured for theft, also very annoying when Vodafone has just sent me a reminder to renew.
I estimate it's worked for 3 months out of the 11 months i have owned it. I had a Vodafone tracker on my last 2 Bentley GTC's and they worked perfectly well so i'd go with the idea it is the Porsche system that isn't up to scratch.
The high quality of our vehicles over their entire service life is one of the core values of the Porsche brand and contributes significantly to the fascination for our products. To ensure the reliability of our vehicles in the long term, we carry out continuous quality analyses.
Porsche Car Connect is a system that is integrated into your Porsche vehicle to provide vehicle remote and tracking services. The services and associated hardware are provided by our partner Vodafone Automotive.
What is the issue?
During these analyses, we have discovered that it is possible that sporadically the connection between the Car Connect control module and the mobile telecommunications network can be lost. This is due to a software problem with the control module. In order to resolve this, Vodafone Automotive are able to remotely provide an over-the-air software update to your vehicle in order to rectify the problem that causes this loss of connectivity. The over-the-air update will not change the existing vehicle remote or tracking functionality. Please note that your Porsche Connect Navigation & Infotainment services are unaffected by this issue.
What should you do?
Vodafone Automotive will contact you via email in order to ask for your consent to remotely send the over-the-air software update to your vehicle. Following receipt of your consent, the update will be applied within a 5-day period. Once the update has been completed successfully you will be provided with a confirmation email. In the event that Vodafone Automotive are unable to complete your update, they will contact you directly to advise on next steps.
