Am thinking of a change but can’t decide so thought you guys could help.

Had a 996 and a boxster S as second cars in the past then went M4, 640i as single cars and now in a Cayenne S.

I like the idea of two cars but it’s honestly not needed but want something special really up to about 60k.

Was heading towards new M3 Competition but it wasn’t big enough as I mountain bike so was fairly set on an M5 but now am thinking of something like a 911 and a 5 series /X5 as my daily.

Which 911 upto 50/60k would be best to buy? any other suggestions welcome.

Gts, 997 turbo. - which will hold its value better?

997 Turbos strike me as good value ATM but need to be aware of potential turbos, intercooler, etc maintenance £££ hit. But buy one with some miles and previous owner may have already been thru that refurbishment phase.

Strong Mezger block at the heart of it all.

It'll lack the noise of a naturally aspirated car though.

£50-60k buys quite a leggy GTS or Turbo (particularly the GTS) these days. Think I’d look for a decent 997.2 S personally.

Not the most amazing spec but nice looking car https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202201111...

Lovely car but you're paying for those low miles. I suspect the OP wants to actually drive his car unlike that ones previous owners smilesmile

I'd recommend the OP gets a drive of a 997S and 997 Turbo anyway to see what the think. The S should be lower overall maintenance cost though.

There's nice Turbos out there if you look private and not dealers who seem to have the same inflated priced cars sitting for months and months. Even saying that here's a dealer car that has been on sale for ages and Steve Bull would be considered a solid indie...must be the interior color putting people off but I like it.

I'd guess a well spec'd one of these is going to be in or around 100k (before discounts) mind you. I specc'd an M3 the other day at 97k, crazy!

Yep M3 touring is the answer but not at 100k.

In 2016 I bought a 340i touring factory specced and paid £31k new!!!

I should have kept that one.

I think an M5 Competition is the answer especially as it will be last ICE M5.

BUT

a 5 series daily and a 997 turbo/ 991 C2S has the appeal.
