Well i have bought myself a MK2 GT3.

But the one thing i noticed was on idle the Revs hunt a little bit, and not as smooth as some cars.

Is this the case with all GT3's??????? I suppose it is a race bred GT1 engine!

I have got the OPC looking at it before i collect it, so if there is a problem they will sort it.

Cheers

Mark

At idle, the revs should not hunt and it should be completely stable.

I would describe mine as not hunting at all, but rather its a slightly lumpy idle compared to say a standard 996.....

MAF sensor might be contaminated? This makes the car lumpy at idle and slightly jerky sometimes at low revs/speeds.

In the grand scale of things not a problem to fix (£350 for a MAF) and dont let the OPC charge you anything for fitting - it takes about 2 mins to change a MAF - though they will probably charge for half an hours labour !

£153 plus the dreaded from

I've got a MKII and mine is lumpy too at idle - It's characteristic of these engines

Comp called Dingbro up in Scotland bosch part no, as BOSCH make it so you should get from any motor factors for around £85.00 +vat huge saving amd 2 screws to change !!!

Good advice on the Bosch MAF sensor, but both of mine have been lumpy at tickover --- a kind of high lift cam thoroughbread tickover !

Another vote for slightly lumpy at idle. Just enough to let you know that it is not just a 911.

Can we elaborate on the Lumpy

Is it stickin' at the 750 mark but having the odd missing feel to it?

thats about right....

Idles with the odd little dip and rise of 100-150 rpm.

So not really a problem, just want to be safer rather than sorry....

Mind you i have a 12 Month OPC Warrenty so all good smile

If the car has had a clutch change in the past - the previous owner may have put a single mass flywheel on. I did this to my MkII when I changed the clutch and it definitely makes the idle less stable than standard MkIIs.
