I'm about to purchase a C2 and would like it checked at the main dealer. Does anyone have an idea what this costs and what it covers?

Also has anyone made a claim on their warranty - was the dealer / Porsche all right about it.

Thanks

Hey Simon,
I have some info in this area because,I brought my 964 RS used.
1. find out is this car a porsche certified used car. this means that they have gone threw the car completely and will warrantee it.
2. If you buy it from a dealer then let them do the inspection and have the write up all faults and short term repairs needed.
3. It may not cost anything if you buy the car from them.
4. If you buy a car from a private sale then { please ,please } protect yourself by having the car checked out. it will cost between $150- $200 and guess what, its worth every cent. have every ID number checked, compression and all areas checked for accident damage repairs. look for alignment on all body panels and be very{ anal }and question everything . Now I will tell you the story about my first porsche. it was a 79sc that I was buying from a repair shop that was also a body shop. well, I had to put down 10k for the down payment on a complete rebuild from the ground up. the car was a coupe and was going to be converted to a wide body slant nose panted midnight blue. I mean strip the car and acid dip the shell and paint and undercoat everything. well, it went sour and the guy told me to do whatever you think you can. I was 20k invested and had no money and he wouldn't give me the car. I had the numbers checked from the title and it came back stolen. It took two years and lots of wine to make the pain go away but, my lawyer got my money back and I had everybody short of the FBI on this guys butt. Its all behind me now and I have a better car that I'm very happy with. Just so you know the cops said that the car had at least six different ID numbers attached to the car. I don't want to see this happen to you. speed.

Simon,

How well do you know your main dealer (presumably an Official Porsche Centre)? They will check a car at a set price, and if you ask for a more extensive check there should be no problem. Ask for a quote for whichever you want.

In eighteen years of Porsche ownership I have never had a moment's difficulty with warranty work. If you're talking about a used car warranty there may be some restrictions - read the small print - but you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Without knowing the details (model, age, seller, mileage etc) it is impossible to give much advice, but if you're concerned about any particular aspect send me an email (see my profile).

Hi Simon,
My first trip with my RS was from california to the east coast and after I arrived the engine light was on. I went to the nearest porsche dealer and I was told that the engine cooling fan needed to be replaced. well the fan costs $380.00 and it was due to the fact that I had just brought the car that they fixed it for nothing and I brought lunch for all the mechanics. Boy were they happy. speed.

ps. just ask a ferrari dealer to do that !!!!!!!
