Sheesh, do you guys SEE those fantastic photos of the 944 block. No wonder these cars are rev machines, thirty four (34) bolts hold down the main bearing girdle, ha ha, pretty awesome.
You can also see some costs for 944 rebuilds here, but these are generally all race prepped engines, so a stock rebuild should be considerably less $$.

Some of those American 944 tuners get awesome results
Take a look at www.powerhaus.com/ and click on the 'hot' link, 480 hp to the rear wheels and 470 lbft of torque. Thats nearly 550 at the flywheel, using a 3 litre 16valve block. I bet it's not cheap.
Paul Riley should drop that in his Porsche Open 944 and see if they ban him again

Interesting link. I assume you saw this 2.6 liter mill with 600+ hp. Ck the Lindsey Racing page, and look at the rubber this thing has under it, ha ha, wow!
