996 C2 with Carrera's Tyre pressure ?
Discussion
I know this subject has been covered before, but I have a 996 C2 with 18" Carrera's & have heard lots about tyre pressures.
Some say use factory pressures, I have heard 36 all round a few times.
Any thoughts on this - tried & tested pressures anyone can reccomend ?
I have also heard that garage air pumps are not accurate. I have a digital pressure gauge - so should I use that to check pressures when filling with air to ensure its accurate ?
Thanks
Julian.

I run my 996tt with tyre pressures set as in the manual, ie 36 front and 44 rear. On track days I tend to drop the pressures let the tyres heat up and then drop them back to the recommended pressures when hot.
As far as accuracy of garage forecourt airpumps is concerned I have a little plastic gauge purchased from my OPC and my local shell garage's airpump pressure reading matches my gauge exactly. I understand there is legilsation regarding the accuracy of garage forecourt airpumps so I would not expect them to be too far out.

Normally arrive at a certain german toll road and set the tyres to 33/41 (F/R) then pootle around the Eifel countryside for 13 miles then drop the temps back to 36/44 (ie the normal cold temps)
It has been alledged that porsche recommend an unecessarily high rear pressure due to rear weight balance and to guarantee the tyres don't jump off of the rims.

had a new set of Pzeros stuck on recently, and the guy tried to tell me they should be 24 all round
said, ERM NO, manual says 36/44...
wouldnt believe me, till i showed him it.
Reluctantly agreed. My lasdt set of rears were shafter because the supplying dealer had set them at 30/36 and as such I chewed the outside of the tyre
Still, we live and learn... I did wonder why they screetched SOOO much, thought that Pzeros were just 'communacative' tyres
18inch on my 996 c2 36/44
thought it was too high as I was starting to 'slide' in some corners and roundabouts after upping the pressure, till i realised i was doing 15mph more round the same corners than before
