944 Coupe - Midgets Only?

Hi all,

Has anyone carried teenagers / small adults in the back seats of a 944, 928 coupe? Or is it a case of very small kids without legs only, as per Cerberas, 911s etc?

I assume that the coupe has a bit more space than the cabriolet due to the hood and additional body stiffness, is this correct?

I recently made a trip in my 944 S2 coupe from Bristol to Worcester complete with 2 goddaughters and their 6ft 8 father. the girls are aged 4 and 7 both very tall for their age. I addition the boot was full to bursting with luggage. No complaints about the jouney the youngest was abit miffed I had no SCLUB 7 CDs though. For my trouble I was left with 2 bits of Jessie from Buzz Lightyear and 1 sock in the back of the car.

Yeah, it is possible, but not much fun for adults - the front seats need to be far forward, too.

I've had a 944 cabrio and turbo, and cabrio was slightly worse if I remember because of hood mechanism.

I'm 1m91 tall and I managed to "sit" in the back...lying frome side to side!
Seriously, I once had a girlfriend at the back who is approximately 1m60 and she still hit the roof...
These back seats are a joke, only useful to put bags in instead of in the boot where luggage slide frome side to side.

I once had a lift from my Auntie in her 944 and it was certainly an experience. I'm just 6 foot and I remember having to sit in the back between the front seats i.e. Both feet near the hand brake! With my head sticking out the sun roof!! I remember it fondly....

The handbrake?
On mine (LHD) it's on the left of the driver's seat...Shouldn't it logically be on the right of the driver's seat on a RHD model?

Thanks for your responses guys, it confirms what I suspected - not ideal for getting teenage kids into (why do they grow so tall these days).

I'll have to think about some options, it's just that I'm getting fed up with driving something slow when I've got more than one passenger (which is quite often these days), the Jeep uses petrol like a 4 litre (18 mpg) but goes like a 1.6 litre .

I've always liked the 944 and thought it might be a good compromise as most of the 4 seat coupes with legroom are less exciting - still Cougar V6s are dirt cheap.
