I have known this brand for a while now and love some of their work. Robust, hard wearing watches by two British brother Giles and Nick English.

They do the best watch catalogue that's for sure.

Nice, but expensive.

Not a good choice if you're likely to sell on after a while. At least, not unless you actually like depreciation.

On the other hand, they make a great 2nd-hand buy.

I got one after years with a GMT Master and I have to say they are really great watches. Even though its a big watch it isn't overwhelming as the case design cleverly reduces the bulk.

I get way nicer comments about the Bremont than the Rolex - I was getting fed up with all the teasing over the Rolex image...

They don't appeal to me at all. I find them a bit ... wannabe ... its like they are trying to be Breitling.

Moreover I struggle to see how they justify the price (which is another similarity to Breitling I suppose).

Presumably you mean in terms of the flying connections rather than similar designs?

I don't see anything of theirs that looks much like anything from Breitling.

I didnt think I'd like them, but having seen them in the flesh I'd have to agree- they look great. Except the EP120, which does nothing for me.

I had the opposite experience, handled one and thought it was nothing special even more so considering the price tag.

Is Bremont a British watch maker? The brand may be British but I thought they where made in Switzerland. I do like the lug and case designs though but the whole thing just looks like an exercise in brand engineering to me.

Doesn't Clarkson wear one of these? Or at least did on an episode of TG. Not that it changes anything. If anything, would make me run a mile.

I saw them in the flesh for the first time at the FoS over the weekend, I actually quite liked the watches for looks but they've lost a sale because of their snooty sales and marketting bints. Now I understand that Goodwood is a great venue for the Nigels & Fionas to be seen in their sun hats, boaters, & flowery dresses but the chinless bints on the Bremont stand really didn't understand their true market. Yes sure when myself and a mate went on we were wearing shorts, flip flops & t shirts but the failure to even notice that I was wearing a Ti Seamaster and he was wearing a Datejust which we both use as our everyday thrashers was inexcusable, I had to physically go to one of them and ask if I could clarify a few things about movements etc which she seemed uninterested in answering before simply walking off to talk to a pink trouser wearer with claims that "This is the actual watch that Charlie Boorman took all round the world".

I actually commented at the time to my mate "I like the watches but can't be doing with this lot" FFS don't they relise if someone asks a serious question about what is the base movement they use pre modification then the odds are they are genuinely interested in watches and if talked to intelligently would be likely to buy one, Ok given that I may not have produced an amex black and wished to walk away wearing it there and then but I may have sought them out later in the year and given them due consideration, but now it's doubtfull.

I too was wearing shorts, sandalls & a T-shirt, but the French girl was happy to speak to me and let me try 2 of the watches on.
I was wearing my SD, so perhaps her training had only extended as far as recongnising Rolex.

That said she knew feck all. When someone else asked who made the movement she said Valjoux FFS. I was tempted to put her right, but couldn't be arsed.

My Dad and I had a similar experience on the Friday at FoS. They just didn't seem interested. For reference, I had a Navitimer on, and my old man had his (original) Heuer Carrera on.

I do think the ALT1-P is a fantastic looking watch though. Although circa £2,000 - £2,500 would be a much more realistic price, not £3,300

I still don't know the answer but I'd assume that the model with the vertical day/date at 6 o'clock (can't be arsed to look up model number) is a modified ETA? or do they use the same movement (or obviously the chrono version on some) across the range?

There is more info on their website. They used different ETA sources movements depending on the watch.

They are all modified, but not sure by who or how extensively.

I was in shorts and T-shirt and they were absolutely fine with me - this was on the Saturday though.

Agreed. One of the guys was very helpful and quite knowledgeable, and let me try on the two martin-baker tie up editions. However, whilst waiting to ask for any literature on their forthcoming supermarine from one of the blond bints, I was virtually ignored. I was possibly tempted, but I now think this is a form over function company, who are overly concerned with their brand and product endorsment placement.
