So just completed a full carpet re-trim on my MK1 Tuscan, I have never done ANY type of trimming or work like this before so thought I would do a little write up to let people know what’s involved.
I decided to do the retrim before I had even handed the money over for the car, like many cars 10+ years old, carpets were faded, didn’t smell great and I didn't like the colour. I brought the kit from Central TVR, they were made up and shipped out in under a week, an smooth transaction.

Initial thoughts was that the carpet was a different quality to the factory (which was more like a thick house carpet), dubious at first but actually a much better suited for a car.
One thing I was not expecting is that most pieces needed trimming or re cutting, things like speaker holes, headunit hole, steering column hole etc, this was no problem as was easily done with kitchen scissors.
There were a couple of bits missing, Central were pretty good and sent out a sheet of carpet for me to cut my own.
I had a couple of issues along the way, firstly was removal of the seats. One of the bolts was stuck and going no where so and to use a nut splitter. Problem solved
Next was removal/refitting of the dash tray, previous articles I have read mentioned use of a dermal to cut the steering column free taking over an hour to do, I simply used a hack saw blade and reached under the dash and it took under two minutes. Sliding the dash free and removal was very tight, at times I could hear the dash beginning to crack but some juggling and force I managed to get it back.

Tools required
Sockets 10-12mm
Screw drivers
Alan keys
3 cans of heat resistant glue

Summary
The price the DIY carpet kit is a lot cheaper than taking to a professional trimmer and fairly easy to do, easily done over a weekend. Must be one of the most cost effective things you can do to add a new lease of life to an old car (looks, smells and feels like a new car). If I was to do the retrim again I would properly buy a roll of carpet and cut my own template, then my friend (a tailor) would add the piping for about £30.
