Changing to one throttle body instead of 6

My ever thinking mechanic has asked " has anyone changed back to one big throttle body"
Better fuel economy
Longer lasting
easier to tune / maintain
more mid range torque
cons .. loose about 20hp

longer lasting .. in what way?
easier to tune in that there's only one airflow to worry about.
More mid range torque? why?
lose 20hp ? why?
ITBs : reasons for choosing :
drivability, emissions, economy, throttle response, tame down wild cam timing
Single TB : reasons for choosing :
cost, ease of set-up
You can’t really “change back” as the speed six was never intended to run on a single body.
Realistically you’d need to move to one of the standalone management offerings, then fabricate a manifold, look at how you will package the manifold and the throttle body in the space provided, and finally map it.
You’re better off resolving the issue with your existing bodies to make them more stable. There’s likely play in the butterfly shaft.
I used standalone management with an idle control valve and the thing ran fine with little fettling.
BMW ran ITB’s on the E46 m3.. worked fine.

Thanks guys
My mechanic works on and builds Alfa Busso v6’s as fast road and race .
You can easily let the current ecu run a single throttle body .
Like I said he’s a thinker and he is already working on an idle valve . ...
his impression is exactly as I stated , but this is his first speed 6
