Hi, whats the difference between the standard Tuscan engine, Red rose, Tuscan S pre 2003 and post 2003 ?

Looking at My tuscan website and the different BHP levels for each derivative, I have a 2001 which I think is 4.0ltr, I am looking to rebuild it and was wondering if you can rebuild to Tuscan S 390-400 BHP without much extra cost, I dont want to go 4.3 or FFF route just trying to find the best value for money on the rebuild.

3.6L Mk1: 350 BHP, 290 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1: 360 hp, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1 Red Rose: 380 BHP, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1 S (pre-2003): 390 BHP, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1 S (post-2003): 400 BHP, 315 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk2 (post-2005): 380 hp, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk2 S (post-2005): 400 BHP, 315 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk2 Convertible (post-2005): 380 hp, 310 ft.lbf

I am no expert, you will have to start changing the fuel injectors and anything else that regulates the power, fuel pump? There will then be a change needed in the ECU so remapping costs.

From memory:

Larger bore exhaust
Larger injectors
Different cam timing
Different map.

You can get all, apart from the exhaust from TVR parts.

The simplex kit from TVR parts is a decent upgrade to include for not a lot of money.

The ultimate solution is the FFF. Removes the variable of poor head casting.

4 Litre Convertible Sept 2005 -Jun'06
4 litre Convertible 'S' Sept 2005-Jun'06 (Same as as a Sag and 'S' MK2 Targas)
and from Power
a 4.3 or a 4.5 Super Sport smile
Plus the new MBE ECU with anti knock +++ and TC and ABS if you want it

and ignore all the BHP/Torque figures because they are meaningless IMHO smile

When I did my rebuild, yes they all ran the same cam profile . Just different timing.
