My sidelight went so I needed a replacement. The problem is the faff of having to remove the bonnet in order to do a simple bulb change - so I wanted to make sure I got the right bulbs straight from the off.

After reading much (mis)information about the bulbs I get the feeling that different models have different specs, so I thought I'd share what my OEM SmkII has installed from factory:

Dipped = upper housing = h7 HID
Main/Full = lower housing = h7 HID
Sidelights = lower housing = T4W (bayonet bulbs, NOT the 501 blade-types)

Now the h7's could be h4's as they look so similar and I didn't want to take them out after taking ½ hr to change the bleeding sidelights - but mine appears to have 2 sets of HIDs in them (not HID dipped and Halogen Full). The ballasts are screwed into the other side of the access panel you use to get to the housings.

They all appear to be different colour temps too:

I've labelled them as to what they appear to be by my eye but I think that's about right. Like I said, AFAIK this is "as is" from factory so the lights appear to be "standard" on the S mkII and it sails through it's MOT every year (plus I don't get any whine through the radio as many who have done a conversion do).
OTOH the fact the colour temps are different makes me think the original owner (I'm the second) may have converted the full beams themselves...

As an aside I felt the OEM sidelights were marginally dimmer than me going back to the year 1850 and shoving a candle in there instead wobble so I ended up changing them for 4000K ones (couldn't get an exact dipped beam match from a reputable company in the short time I looked but 4000K looks good and not blueish in person - i'll get round to finding an exact match at a later date):

Another thing that confused me was the nomenclature but of course it does depend on what you read coupled with the fact that every chart you look at on t'internet assigns different names, shades and temps to exactly the same colours confused

Hopefully this is helpful for others with this model.

Hi Gaffer, thanks for posting.
Mine is a 2006 convertible but I would expect it to have the same as yours.

Easy to tell difference between H7 & H4 incandescent bulbs. One has a dual / twin / two element and one doesn't.
