theres also some good reviews for str8 six. anyone got any experience of them and or how the 2 company's compare?
is there another option i should consider?
id be happy to tackle the the job my self using local independents to donthe machine work but i guess this wouldn't look as good come resale time?

I got Dom at Power to rebuild my 4 litre "S" as a 4.5 Super Sport then got the upgraded MBE ECU with anti knock sensor etc.
Very pleased with the workmanship and keeping me informed and on schedule . I was disappointed I didn't get my anticipated 400bhp , but the general characteristics of the engine suit me , with loads of torque across the rev range and a lot lot smoother than original. I don't rev my car to excess so the peak bhp is inconsequential to me.

At the rolling road shootout the S6 engines rebuilt from STR8SIX stood out as the ones that were meeting or beating the expected power outputs.
Their 4.3 conversation making around the 420bhp mark in nearly all cases. One of the cars was a 4.3 rebuilt nearly 10 years ago and well used still made over 410.
The same went for the other engines as well.

My 4,3 - rebuilt in 2012, made 412.9 bhp at the Surrey Rolling road session December 2019. The car now has ~ 102K miles on the clock....the last 55+K miles on the refreshed engine.Their 4.3 conversation making around the 420bhp mark in nearly all cases. I'm pleased with the service I get from Jason and all at Str8Six..

Had my S6 rebuilt in 2010 by Powers. Standard spec as at the time the 4.3 had only just come out and I couldn't stretch the finances. 30K+ miles since then, regular servicing, sweet as a nut, probably done half of those miles in France and Germany so used more as a GT.
Never bothered with a rolling road or power output willy waving, it has enough power for the cars weight and it is smooth and responsive. Think about how you will use it - modern roads (potholes, MLOC and speed cameras) limit how much you can really use any additional power, and why does it matter if someone can go faster "in extremis"? More important the car is reliable from the off.
