Finally managed to get my car back 17 years after selling it :-)

Shes in a bit of a mess, been SORN for last couple of years and mice have been chewing on the interior.

So the plan is to get it back on the road for the summer and run it around until the Vixen is finished, once the Vixen is done Ill take the Tuscan off the road and sort it out properly and get it back (or better) to its former glory.

Congrats on getting it back!

Sad to see the state of her. I do wonder how people can let them get to this state.

Glade she will be loved again.

Is there a back story here - I've only ever wanted to buy back one of my previous cars and I know it's not possible because the Ex Mrs BC wrote the bloody thing off!!!

B'stard Child - Back story

I brought the car back in 2002, loved it to bits and drove it nearly every day.

At some point I managed to put it in to the crash barriers on the A38 and to cut a long story short it went to Blackpool to be repaired, whilst it was there they moulded a new back end and updated the interior.

In the shop was one of the Tuscans that had come back from filming at Disney, so they took the alloys off it and put them on my car to complete the upgrade.

Whilst the car was being repaired I needed something to drive so got myself a Impreza, while it was no TVR I did enjoy driving it.

In 2004 my wifes car packed up and we needed to get her a new one, having recently moved house money was tight so I didnt want to get in to debt to get another. It was a very hard choice but I decided to let go of the TVR and keep the Impreza as it was more practical and so much easier to drive in winter. The Tuscan went to the Audi center in Nottingham and I actually cried when it had gone. I vowed that day that I would one day get it back.

For many years I kept my eyes open looking for it at shows and scouring car ads in case it came up for sale, I often put posts on here, TVRCC website and social media asking is anyone knew of its whereabouts.

In 2013 I imported a Vixen from Holland, flew out there and was going to drive it back but managed to pull my back out so had to get it collected. I spent several months arguing with DVLA to get in registered again here with its original plate and carrying out minor work to get it an MOT

Shortly after it was on the road my Tuscan came up for sale !! This is the moment I had waited years for ... but ... I was quite attached to the Vixen, after several weeks of wrestling with the idea I decided to keep the Vixen.

Again the same pattern for the next 8 years of asking about its whereabouts, and telling anyone who would listen that I was going to get it back, then just by look I saw a post on FB the owner was asking if he should sell the car as it was or do work on it put an MOT on it then sell it.

I contacted the seller and told him I was interested and we swapped messages about the car. A dealer had made him an offer subject to it being taken away to their garage for a proper inspection. The seller offered it to me for the same price if I took it before it was collected.

I wasnt sure what to do as one Vixen is in the middle of a full restoration which is proving to be a money pit and the other Vixen is in bits waiting to be started. Again I wrestled with what to do. The day before it was due to be collected I called the buyer and said if I buy it and send you the money today will you phone ther garage and cancel them collecting it, he agreed, I sent the money and my 17 year wait was over :-)

Thank you - helps me understand the perspective

The fact that you have another car is resto explains why you would want to just treat and paint the outriggers (for now)

All I am doing is the minimal to get it an MOT and make it safe so that I have a TVR to drive this summer as the Vixen wont be ready till the back end of the year.
The tuscan does have a special place in my life, and when its time to restore her it will be done properly and to the highest standards just like the Vixen.
