Can you only buy Tuscans from TVR dealers?
Discussion
Buy this fully sorted Mk1 from a highly respected specialist, with an outstanding 12 months wear and tear warranty, or pay more to a private seller?

Prefer to buy private, get to meet the seller and take your time. Let them drive and you will get an idea of how sympathetic they are to the car.... might scare you off. Auctions are cool but the fever hits and if you don't know how to stop it can get exciting... It is a pain selling privately though, time wasters and con men about and I have had sellers look at me like I am about to rob them, one guy refused cash even when I said I'll drive you to the bank in my car, leave the keys here etc. Clearly didn't trust me. Anyway I will still buy privately and still try the bag of cash trick.
Best one was where his wife was there, I waved a massive bungle of 50s said that's a good kitchens worth of cash... he glared at me, she nagged him, I got 7K off. Poor bloke, I did feel bad.

Yup looks good value. Str8Six Tuscans never look that expensive tbh compared to what private sellers want (whereas sometimes their other cars do look pretty expensive, like Chims). https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11079706
The S has a front splitter and a spoiler (to my eyes, the non-S looks better), and a tiny amount of extra power (which I'd be amazed if you could notice, plus so many have had engine work by now that the non-S have all probably been upgraded by now). I'd not get too excited about that personally if a good non-S came up for sale ...
(disclaimer, bought my Mk1 non-S from Str8Six).
From what I have have learned, many dealer advertised Tuscan’s are still owned privately and what you see advertised (if owned privately) will have a premium of circa 10% (dealers selling fee already added to the asking price). Plus the dealers want to charge their clients for a full service before they advertise the sale, and fit brand new tyres all round (if they are more than 3 years old).
The dealer will of course offer a warranty, but quite how bullet-proof these are I am not sure.

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Managed to buy a Tuscan S yesterday from a private seller, from eBay of all places. Very happy with my new purchase.
I’m sure I will have a lot of questions once I start using it in anger

You beat me to it! Just enquired about this car, then flicked to PH and found you've already bought it. Congratulations.Managed to buy a Tuscan S yesterday from a private seller, from eBay of all places. Very happy with my new purchase.

If it's as good as the ad and pictures suggested I think you've got a good one. Looked fairly priced for a tip top late Mk.1 S. Original engine?
I'll be interested to hear how you find it after a couple of weeks ownership.

Sorry, @SFTWend but I moved quickly when I saw it come up. Good honest seller and honest car. Yes it's the original engine, but the receipts show annual service history and it's had whatever work it's needed done whenever needed. Paint work is original and could do with some attention (if that's possible without a full respray in this colour)... but from 6 feet it looks great.
Drove it 100 miles home without any issues. I might have to change the cans to get Mrs P in it for journeys of any length as it ain't half loud...loudest Tuscan I've heard anyway. Probably the suspension will take some fettling/new parts as it's all original too.
It's MOT and annual service are due in Sept, but I think I'll bring that forward to next month. TorqueRVT and TrackVRoad are both an hour away from me, so will check out the reviews and get it into one of those to get them to give it the once over and do anything they think is needed.
Very chuffed with it

Hope I havent spoken too soon!!!
