What it says!

Anyone with a pair of inserts or track day silencers that I could borrow before August 5th?

Doing a Goodwood day on the 6th, and its 98 dB. I passed on a 105dB day a few years ago.
Preferably pick-up around Hampshire/south of M4?

TIA. Nick

I did a Goodwood event last August and will be doing another one this coming august too. My standard Chimaera 500 came in at 102db which was fine. Some of the cars, such as a classic McLaren, a Ford GT and an Ultima were above the 105db limit, and Goodwood provided slip on silencers for them.

I’m not sure if your event organisers will provide silencers, but it may be worth asking.

Frank, thanks for the offer.
One of the Hants guys has offered me his that he bought for his Chimaera.....Been told they don't fit.

If they are the clamp on end of pipe (can-type) silencers....then they might....Crucial dimension is the internal dia of the clamp 'pipe'.

Will put this in my diary just to attend and watch.

We called in to Goodwood when passing a few weeks ago. Had a tea, a chat and watched the cars on track.

It struck me that the organisers don't allow too many cars on track at once...... Completely different to Combe on Friday where there seemed to be about three times as many!

Short circuit and limited dry ( ish) running time I think Peter as there were not many cars there really.
Horrible when you get beat up cars flashing around without a care though.

I mentioned to Anthony how hard trackday drivers have it.
Most racers get there early or night before and get paddock access.
Pushbike and all that I know of walk the track or cycle to the bits they need to focus on when at 100 + mph and stand/ sit there memorising everything imaginable.
Bumps particularly.
You guys have to get upto speed in a few laps,, it’s a very different feeling to me. Like your seriously uninformed unless you know the track previously like the back of your hand which without walking the track is never gonna happen until you have put 100 laps in lol
As you were laugh

Does Castle Combe have a max car limit of 12 for a trackday?

Not sure but I’m sure I have been on track days where there has been a max of 20 cars.

as promised, they are 2-1/2" fitting ACT TD Silencers.

If they are suitable then we will need to figure out the logistics of getting to you. I am currently near Southam Warwickshire.

Not sure you want to fit 'end can' type silencer to your Tuscan carbon cans or Sagaris cans depending on what is fitted.

How about a set of Sag un-sleeaved cans or a couple of motor bike silencer cans?

When I offered these I wasn't sure they would fit, having looked at Tuscan S images I am of the same opinion as you. However if OP wants to try them the offer stands.

Thunking about it, the existing cans could be taken off and the track cans put on in their place. Let's hope there's no flames on over run biggrin

Nice idea, could add a couple of lengths of pipe to push them further back

I'm the OP!
Suggestions above were similar to what I was thinking (substitute existing for the ACT track items?)

- Frank a local guy in the Hants Club has offered the same.

Cheers all!

Cool. If you're going to do regular trackdays then perhaps a pair of silenced bike cans or 'cherry bombs' to swap with the un-silenced carbon cans? Could be cheaper than a length of pipe and specialist track day end can. Personally I think trackdays are a great thing in TVRs and more owners should do them.

Given the factory set up has no support for the carbon cans, I would put the trackday can inboard and extend a pipe out the back (might need a slotted larger bore straight pipe to clamp on the 'out' of the can). Much better given the weight of the cans.
