This may sound like a daft question but I am wondering how best to reduce the drone in the cabin. My car no longer has cats but the mid and rear cans are standard, I wouldn't change the carbon cans for the world as they are such an iconic part of the original design IMO, it sounds fantastic when driving it "properly" but on a boring run the drone around 3k is really wearing thin.

I've never driven the car with cats fitted but I'm assuming the decat is the reason for the drone, if so would exhaust wrap help or is it a non-starter?

Failing that perhaps sports cats of some kind may be best but I don't want to lose the overrun noises- or at least not all of them.

Opinions welcome smile

Are the decats proper decats like below or hollowed out cats...

Ran my headers wrapped for years but the wrap degraded badly and there was some early sign of corrosion around the welds...so dumped it. The only difference in sound is less high frequency exhaust noises in the bay after de wrapping. I run cats and never wrapped those... didn't dare. For me the booming seems to come from rear cans.

I think they may be hollowed out standard cans- I've not looked at others to compare them with and the car was like it when I bought it. Maybe the harsh taper is responsible for the drone compared to your picture.

I've not considered wrapping the S6 headers as looks like a nightmare, did wonder about ceramic coating though...

Hollowed out cats can sound very “industrial”..

Have your rear cans been sleeved?

No they haven't, when I bought the car 7 years ago one of the rear cans fell off on the way home! Dealer sent me 2 new ones (carbon) that are slightly different to the originals but they are perforated all the way through and weigh less. Pretty sure they are bike cans but I think the drone is from the system under the car as it just resonates inside between 2500 and 3500 then it comes alive and sounds amazing!

After a couple of weeks constant use I'm relieved to have my landy back for daily as the drone in the cabin was getting very tiresome...
