I get the low oil pressure beep when the engine is warm, and oil temp is 80 ish, if I go to the oil pressure it's showed it at 3 PSI, however as soon as I apply revs even to only 800 RPM the pressure is fine, I've just had the oil pressure sensor replaced as it was dripping, the car has just had a service and I was told the engine is very healthy, is this anything to worry about or fairly common?, as I say it's only when the car is warm and at complete idle it doesn't always do it either seems to more if on an incline, is this just a case of it being a big engine to get the oil around and at idle there isn't alot of pressure?, or is the new switch giving false readings maybe?.
Maybe the idle is slightly too low as it's at 700RPM but sometimes goes down to 600RPM.

I thought the idle was to be around 900rpm, well 700rpm sounds a little low to me.

I would get them to adjust it to the correct idle.

The oil pressure is very low considering the present ambient temperatures.

What oil have they used?

Agree with Graham, but I'd also suspect the new oil pressure sender....they just aren't reliable, maybe the slightly increased revs enables it to give a correct reading.

i agree that you're idle is to low and i think they have used very thin oil
had the same problem with 0w40.
this gave pressure problems and the oil ran through (1 liter on 600 miles)
the dutch TVR dealer urged me to use Castrol edge sport 10w60.
Oil pressure problems are gone and no flush through anymore.(used nothing the last 500 miles)

Idle revs are usually between 700 to 900, depending on how you set them up - at least that's what I was told.. I have mine set at 900, as I use the air con in the summer and it draws on the engine..

Oil pressure when warm is around 13-15 psi..

Idle should be 700rpm when in a good state of tune for the 4 litre engine.

yust had a go and checked the oil pressure
when hot at idle (800) it indicates 23 psi
it's a bit on the high side but that will be the effect of the thicker oil
looks sound enough for me

I bet you don't have aircon on your car !!!! Otherwise I'm suprised it does die when you switch it on, or you get the constant clicking of the aircon in and out at idle.

My Oil pressure is 15 psi hot idle – fresh and full engine rebuild. Idles at 8-900 rpm. I’d suspect your idle is too low.

TBH im surprised that wasn’t adjusted at your service. The TB’s should be balanced and the idle adjusted. I guess it doesn’t have to be 900 but they sure run better at that - and you get reasonable oil pressure!

Just remember, you have 25% LESS oil flow lubricating your engine at that idle though.

IMO 850-950RPM is best for longevity.

I had the same problem , upped the idle to 900 rpm when the throttles were dialed in and changed to Silcoine 10/50 with Ester , problem has gone 10 psi better when hot and engine noise overall is better.

Hmm!? scratchchin

Never (in 6 years) had any issue with idle, or oil pressure, apart from the first few weeks when a lambda sensor needed replacing.

Cold 800-900, about 65-70 psi
Warm 1000-1100, about 15 psi

One thing I do notice: mine will throw a one second display and bleep of "0 psi" as you turn the ignition on for the first time. Not all the time, just one in about ten. Clears straightaway.
