Guys, I’m sure you realise that 30 June 1976 was the official launch date of the SD1, so yesterday (should have posted this on Friday had I had time… was the SD1s 30th birthday!!!

As a treat, I’ve scanned in something from my unfeasibly large SD1 literature collection for your amusement: the front page of the BL Mirror from 30 June 1976. The entire 32 page newspaper was dedicated to the new car, factory and associated stories with lots of colour pictures. It is a superb piece of memorabilia which I believe to be extremely rare – even James Taylor (Rover historian) doesn’t have one. Luckily my father had the presence of mind to keep his copy!

Congratulations to the old girl!

If only papers had backed things like that a few years ago, things might have been different.
