Moss Europe has cut the prices of its Mazda MX-5 supercharging upgrade kits. The Jackson racing supercharger adds over 40 per cent additional power and utilises the same patented design Eaton uses for OEM manufacturers such as Ford, Jaguar and Mercedes for reliability purposes.

When cruising, the vacuum bypass opens, reducing the load on the supercharger and improving fuel consumption. When you want the power the vacuum bypass remains closed. The transition is smooth and seamless.

The Jackson Racing Supercharger is maintenance free and backed by a two-year, 100,000 mile limited warranty. Installation is straightforward and should take 6-8 hours.

Prices

1.6i and 1.8i MkI complete supercharger systems cost £1694.95, while MkII systems cost £100 more.

Unfortunately they don't run very well with the supplied kit, idle droop problems, lean tip in etc, check on the mx5 owners club forum, with owners who already have them before you buy. They aren't bad units and are very reliable, but they do need a bit of work to get them running well.

40% more power, wow, how much boost do they produce? That's a very good price if they work. Can't quite see where they breath in from, do they pull in hot air from the back of the engine bay?

I think this kit is being superceded by the BPR M62 supercharger. I'm looking into having one fitted at the mo. I'm looking for a nice 180 brake for my little MX5. Reckon it'll be really nice to drive, then.

No doubt from Mr Dixon at Performance5? Nice superchargers from what I've read, very well made and superbly machined pulleys etc. And unlike the old M45 they are seriously upgradeable with programmable ECU's etc your looking at around 220 +rwhp

Not superceded as such, its an entirely different supercharger from a different company ie BRP in the states, where as the M45 kit was originally made by Jackson Racing also of the states.

About 5-6 psi in stardard form. I know people who have smaller pulley's and fuel/iginition electronics who are seeing around 180-190, some claim upto 200 bhp with them, but your really fighting the heat generated by it.

This kit is old now, one of the first FI options for the mx5. In comparision the BRP supercharger and the Ubercharger from Flying Miata (www.flyinmiata.com) are over twice the size, twice as expensive and producing over 100% more power! Of course theres always a turbo charger. I have an Avo turbo on mine and I'm getting 210 rwhp from a 140k mile 1.6 1991 engine, thats on a standard block. The older engines are pretty bullet proof.

Full Jackson Racing Super Charger Intercooler set up front to back. Turns your MX5 into a beast. Had 16 years, never had any iusses. Excellent bit of kit and well worth it.
