If they use a sensible new brand I'd consider it. Trouble is they're a bit dim when it comes to this part.

They certainly need to brand it properly, no more Cedrics, Shumas etc.

But its a real step forward for us to be even considering their cars providing that they get the branding right, than our normal slagging them off mode. Imagine if they can get it priced down to the price of Hot-Hatch.

Looks good. Hopefully the handling will be good and the price fairly low. I was just wondering what engine they are using. It doesn't specify (as far as i could see anyway) whos engines they are using.

320hp 4.6l V8? Has to be the mustang mill. Korean car, option of a 2.7l V6 - Hyundai, no doubt there. The two litre I wouldn't know, maybe hyundai again, if popping a turbo on an elantra engine can produce an extra 150hp. Sorry about this if anyone has already answered, I didn't bother to read down before I replied. Mainly because I'm lazy.

i think it looks great an seeeing as proton own lotus an want to expand into a credible car maker rather than supply milk floats to pensioners i'm surprised they have not thought of somthing like this a lotus tweaked proton sports car at around the 20k mark with a 5 sec 0 - 60 time would do wonders for the cars image. most people thought suburus were bit crap till thw impreza

This is NOT a Proton. It's a Protomotors. As far as I know, the two companies have no connections to each other.

I'm beginning to like it more and more.
It sure looks a lot more exciting than -for example- an NSX IMO...

Protomotor? Never heard before...but then again: who apart from us car nuts does know what TVR is...

Car looks good and could do exactly what the website says: bridge the gap between real sportscars (TVR, Ferrari, Lambo etc) and the wannabes such as Miyatas, sorry MX5, Z3 etc...

They could succeed if only they get the branding right....

That was my first thought. A reworked Mk2 MR2, nought wrong with that... the supercharged V8 option sounds good

Sounds right - the 2.0 litre is 1975cc, which is coincidentally the capacity of the 2.0 Hyundai lump... and according to the site, Promotor has done work on various Hyundai models before. Pieces all fit, except for the 4.6 V8 - not sure how Ford enters this particular picture, but it does sound like the current V8 motor from the blue oval.

The question is: is this a Korean MR2, or a Korean NSX?

It'd be cool if it were a Korean MR2 (sub $30,000 U.S.) but I have a feeling it'll probably wind up a Korean NSX ($80,000+ U.S.) If this were a Hyundai I'd be pretty excited, since that would probably make it more affordable and more likely to be exported. But it looks to be produced by a small, relatively unknown company, which means it will most likely be expensive and unavailable in the U.S. (Where I live)

I heard about htis car about 4 years ago. the first prototype had a different name Protomotors PS2 and was blue. It also had lsightly different styling. they really cleaned it up well for production, although the front end is not as nice as the previous prototype. There also was a video of it. It sounds nice and sporty.
