Jackie bought a property at £350k on the hard shoulder of a dual carriageway. Since buying the house Jackie has discovered that lorries are noisy. I wonder what she wants the 70mph speed limit reduced to in order to stop the lorries being noisy.

I'm actually surprised it's a 70 when there are quite a few residential properties on that road. Looking at streetview history it seems a decent amount of development has happened over the last 6 years or so which hasn't been properly considered.
Not sure i'd want my kids playing football there either going on how often the ball would go over the neighbours garden when I was a kid

She is being Daf and looks a bit Crossley, when you buy a house you need to Scania surroundings and not Dodge the issue, wheres her MAN ? what has he Seddon on the issue ? Just seems like a massive Scam, hell, bet she is just after a few quid, she needs a Steyr in the right direction.
I presume they were hoping for the council to revoke the planning permission, which would force the developer to demolish the houses and refund them.
What really surprised me, looking on Street view is that this isn't the back of an estate which is up against the dual carriageway (which you might not notice if buying off-plan), but the entrance to the small close (more like a shared drive really) of about 10 houses is directly off that dual carriageway. It shouldn't have been given planning permission - looks like the site was originally a garage of some sort, but the people buying there must have known what they were moving into.
Interestingly, there isn't a 30 sign on the entrance to that close and another small esate of houses a bit further down, which means the residential road is also national speed limit.....

My first thought when reading articles like this are, congratulations on making the (albeit, very obvious) downsides of your property permanently available online.
imagine trying to sell that house on, its subject to national media coverage.
If I had made the same catastrophic mistake as them, clearly buying with the blinkers on, I'd want out of it as soon as possible and as quietly as can be.
